Oricium feedback and review thread

Post by Chema »

Hi guys! I decided to release version 1.0 of the game. You can download it from http://oricium.defence-force.org/.

I am aware of the Oric-1 bug, as stated on the other thread. Please consider this as a pre-release version. Post here your comments/suggestions/bugs... and I will collect them all to produce a new version as soon as I get back from my holidays!

Happy playing!

Awesome game as always with your games :)

The labyrinth is a bit too hard for me currently. I will need to train ;)

Edit: I'm posting a message on oric.org to say that the game is available.

Ah..... this is very impressive. I will come back to this and spend more time playing. I never played Uridium, this game at first feel reminds me of Fireflash - the left/right flipping. I'm enjoying it.

eta: the tribute to Twilighte is touching.

I have trouble loading the game on a real maching from the TAP2CD Wav file. The loader and hires screen load fine but the game hangs right after it begins.
I've tested on two different Atmos, and with two different players (and adding silence at the end of the file).

I converted back the game to "normal" fast speed (5'31" time loading) and then it runs fine!

Fabrice told me that tap2cd has some problems with some tapes. I suppose this is one of them.
He might be interested in this .tap.

But don't you have a cumulus Synoon ?

Dom on oric.org said it works very well on the Cumulus. Even better than on an emulator.

Chema worked a lot at fixing problems with TAP2CD, I'm pretty sure he'll have an idea of what's happenning. The fact that the two first parts load fine is positive.

About Cumulus - I'm not used to using disks much, actually. All my computers work fine with tapes, but as soon as it comes to disks, I have problems with many of them. So I live with tapes as much as possible, and only use disks when there is no other choice ;)

Hi, Oricium works fine with a cumulus.
I think it's easier now to plug a cumulus with an sd card full of dsk files.

I am on level 20 now and gameplay becomes strange.

I don't know if its a bug or feature :) but the ship movement is getting bizarre. Even I don't press any movement keys, ship moves up or down time to time and this leads to collision with enemies and ship buildings everytime and I loose life. As I have only one life, I have to play the last level again and again :)

Is it something related to game concept to make it more diffucult to control?

It may be a bug :)
Guess Chema will have to release a new version when he is back from holidays.

Very playable, good controls, looks good, sounds good...a landmark game for the Oric! :D

I'd like to make ONE suggestion...at the end of a level I think there should be some form of explosive sound effect as the ship is destroyed. The end of level tune should play after the ship explodes. Other than that it's a really enjoyable game.

Congratulations Chema, another classsic. :D
