Readdsk/writedsk

Post by jede »

Hello,

i have a problem with readdsk/writedsk. Windows 7 64 bits does not run these binaries : It's a 32 bits binary, windows refuse to start that.

I tried readdsk under dosbox, but it does not run, it only loops on 256 tracks and stops (but readdsk does not read the floppy).

I started a VirtualBox virtual machine with a ms dos 6.22, readdsk is launched but nothing happens.

I think it's mainly because these tools call Bios directly to read the floppy.

Do you know a software which could runs under windows :
Rawrite does not work, and winimage don't read the floppy.

If there is no solution, i'll use a dos floppy to boot my PC under MS DOS.

Any ideas ?

I guess it is a bit like when I used Windows 2000, none of these tools could get access to the low level disk functions and so miserably failed.

I know that on Atari there is a "pasti" library that can be used to access this kind of thing from windows, it basically installs a kind of low level driver.

You can learn about that here:

Possibly we could use that to do a next gen read/write dsk :)
