Thanks for the idea.
It doesn't cost a lot (between 15 and 20 euros) and it doesn't need too much cables with its battery.

If i'm not able to save my tapes on my pc with symoon's solution, i'll try this one.

A few remarks IMHO:

at 3.1: I would recommand the latest tap2wav, and along 11kHz, add the -a option to add a silence at the end of the WAV (if you want your manual to be generic to any mp3 player)

at 5 (Procedure for transferring cassette file), you seem to be mixing a direct recording from tape deck to MP3 player, and using CSAVE on the Oric though it hasn't loaded anything?

Whatever, there are the usual problems with this method:
1- it doesn't prevent loading errors when recording from tape
2- if you are actually CSAVING"xxx", it can lead to problems when transferring multi-part programs that want to Cload their next part with a specific name which wasn't "xxx".

Although maybe not the simpliest, the most reliable way to go is:
- directly record the tape on the mp3 player
- connect the mp3 player to the PC and check the good health of the datas by making a TAP file with the Tapetools (Wavclean + Wav2tap)
- if no errors, you can keep the original recording or convert the TAP file back to WAV with tap2wav to get a clean signal

This way, you can be sure that you didn't change the program name, and have the error detection that will tell you if your recording is correct or not (although it's just a parity check, it's rather efficient when the tape has problems)

hello,

As for multipart cassettes

I transferred oric welcome tape which is three parts as one MP3 file

when program requested part 2 and part 3 just replay mp3 file until it finds it

if you use pc the same would have to be done

When I tried to load the oric welcome tape via cassette sometimes loads and sometimes not

when I transferred oric welcome tape to mp3 then played back with mp3 player recorder I got 100% reliable transfer.

All wav transfers to mp3 worked as well

I have found that some tap files do not work, when transferred only about 20 seconds long

I am in the middle of a move right now

But I will post more later with info with how many transfers are ok ( I have about 10 cassettes to transfer).

Also will post info on wav transfers what works and what does not.

Regards
