Re: Source code repository discussion
It's pretty opaque what source code this thread is talking about, but such as it may be of any help I used CVS around the turn of the century, briefly used SVN around then but allowed every trace of it to exit my mind in the interim, and have been using git for about a decade. I've never had a repos...

Re: Is BD-DOS lost to time?
Minor additional comments from me: since Clock Signal already supports both HFE and edsk, you could at a stretch use it as a converter but probably the more useful contribution is that I could knock up a simple command-line tool if it'd be helpful. Only two caveats: (i) I don't support HFEv3 yet, bu...

Re: Clock Signal — an Oric emulator for macOS and Linux
@ThomH : Congrats for the incredible work! I've just tested the new Qt OSBinding and it works like charm. I like the drop-roms feature :). All in all - simply impressive. Oh, cool! I was just coming here to mention it but I guess that you got ahead of me. I've also been trying to put together a Sna...

Re: Software houses
While I've heard of software house from the UK and France I've not heard of any from rest of Europe is there any ? You mean just those that released Oric software? All I can think of offhand is AD Elektronikk, which was a Norwegian company that published four or five educational titles. EDIT: Five,...

Re: Clock Signal — an Oric emulator for macOS and Linux
Well, my interest is that I wanted to make an Oriclopedia video presenting the various emulators, what they are good at, limitations, etc... and it would be a shame to skip over yours simply because I don't have any Apple hardware around :) If there's any footage I can supply for any purpose — a th...

Re: Clock Signal — an Oric emulator for macOS and Linux
Sorry, yes, that was phrased in an unduly downbeat manner. What I meant was: developments are small, and incremental, and each one may therefore be fairly uninteresting. Especially as a lot of them are fairly standard emulator features that few authors would defer until almost the emulator's fifth (...

Re: Clock Signal — an Oric emulator for macOS and Linux
It's probably not worth trickle-announcing what's going on with Clock Signal, but in case it's of interest to anyone: SDL/kiosk-mode users can now instantiate a new machine without providing a piece of media, can override any of the emulator's default hardware picks if supplying a piece of media, an...

Re: Barbitoric and Buggy Boy demos on youtube
By luck, I happen to have once implemented it in GLSL for the sake of a StackOverflow answer, which means I can immediately provide the lookup-free per-pixel code : void main() { /* Each sheet is coloured individually to look like ripples on the surface of a pond after a stone has been thrown in. So...

Re: Is BD-DOS lost to time?
I'm the last person who should end up in physical possession of it, ever, but I can definitely chip in towards purchasing it with/for @iss, if it's for sale. I suspect we won't get a second chance.

Re: I am now an Oric Atmos owner!
Oh, I didn't realise who you were! I watched your first QL power-on video the other day, in which the lack of a power switch caused you to miss the key moment.
I'm at work now so can't watch the Oric video, but my favourite is Don't Press the Letter Q.

Re: Meurtre à grande vitesse, why there is not a TAP file?
WAV is a bit dodgy because technically it's only a container format ... as you're claiming that you support WAV and you don't really. Just a subset. I claim nothing! :) Not my tools, not my problem! Oh, sorry! That was very poorly worded. Read it "one is claiming to support WAV...". It wa...

Re: Meurtre à grande vitesse, why there is not a TAP file?
I don't think the TAP format can capture anything that's not a completely normal, regulation Oric data stream, it's just a file with the decoded bytes from the tape. Any tape that uses a special saver/loader that introduces weird stuff will be un-representable as a TAP. This I think is the stronges...

Re: Clock Signal — an Oric emulator for macOS and Linux
Update: there's a new release , which fixes everything other than providing intermingled content if multiple Jasmin drives are selected and contain disks. But, Byte Drive done, Jasmin drive selection is no longer a function of address access order, the AY volume curve is better matched to real hardw...

Re: Clock Signal — an Oric emulator for macOS and Linux
Thanks, I'll give it a shot when I get back to my development machine. As well as that, and the Jasmin drive select thing, I think I've also found an issue in the relative volumes of my AY channels — the curve I'm modelling isn't quite right with the result that channels at the loud end are too far ...

Re: Clock Signal — an Oric emulator for macOS and Linux
A new release is out which: resolves a potential undefined memory access at Oric startup, which I hope is responsible for the misbehaviour discussed above; and adds multi-drive support for the Byte Drive 500. I've also rejigged the way that certain dull timing issues work, but a notable outcome shou...
