Re: New game project

It's also maybe possible to use an intermediate representation for the trees using some dithering:

Re: Atmos : it doesn't start !

What you can try is to open it, leave it running for a short while and then put your fingers over the ram chips, see if one or more are warmer than the other, that's a common issue.

Re: Oric DSK Manager

Hmm, I was so happy to not have any reason anymore to keep the Oracle/Sun security nightmare software.
Is there a way to run this software without installing hundreds of megabytes of insecure stuff?

OSDKDISK option in OSDK

Hi,
important question: Is any of you using the OSDKDISK option of the OSDK?

As far as I can see, it's very broken, but if anyone is using it, please give me access to your project so I can see how to fix it without breaking your own project :)

Thanks!

Re: Encounter - Corruption, or protection?

Sorry for the crappy sound quality (and deafening PINGs), but here is the first part of a series of videos on how to improve old games.

OSDK 1.11

The version 1.11 of the OSDK is now available, with the following changes: - Upgraded FloppyBuilder to version 1.2 (fixed issues with gap2 and crc values) - Upgraded Bas2Tap to version 1.0, now correctly handles corrupted programs using out of range tokens as well as saving to a file instead of stdo...

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

This version also fixes the CRC and 0x4E / 0x22 gap2 values.

If it works for you, I'll push a new OSDK tomorrow :)

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

So the bottom line is: Yes interleaving does work and has a noticeable impact on the loading times :) Now the question is: Are we sure that 5 is optimal? Could you format another floppy, and then write with interleave 4 or 3 to test and see if it gets faster or slower? Also, has anyone tried the ver...

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

We need a way to inspect the disk contents with other kind of tools. That's why there are all these devices: Kryoflux, Catweasel, etc... which are designed to read floppy content at the lowest possible level by using their own custom controllers which are custom controlled, so they can emulate and ...

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

Maybe worth contacting someone on an Atari forum, to ask for a hand - and at the same time see if such a card can dump Oric disks ;) I contacted the HxC author with a link to the forum post, and he answered something (google translated) like that: Apart from a formatting issue (gap, track skew, dif...

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

Ok, I committed the changes I had into the SVN depot, and here the actual matching executable: FloppyBuilder_1.2.zip What would be nice is if you people could validate that: - the source code change make sense - this version of FloppyBuilder is actually working as expected would suck I release an OS...

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

http://forum.defence-force.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1314&p=16274&hilit=0x22#p16274 Looks like I never actually pushed the version 1.2 in nay official OSDK, and I did not commit the change. I guess I could do that during the weekend, push the various changes I had around, and release a new version of...

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

Regarding the theory that the HD floppies may already be formatted, I can confidently say with 500% confidence that this cannot be the case: There are no HD floppies that are pre-formatted using 256 bytes sectors. Maybe we should ask to Jean-Francois Del Nero (of HxC fame) if he has any idea about w...

Cool, so the version is indeed buggy :)

Can you tell me in which issue the solution is?
