Re: Looking for The Quill Adventure System (tap/dsk)

Weird. Every time I search Oric.org for 'quill', the site bugs out, giving me a search result page with only this as a result: 1495 http://www.oric.org/ftp/games/software/m/mes/mes_1.png Sat, 07 Sep 2002 00:00:01 GMT http://www.example.org/actu1 The rest of the page is fine, it just won't return the...

Well done, this obviously took a great effort and I'm glad you shared your progress with us.

The IT Crowd Manual

I'm watching The IT Crowd Manual (a documentary on the series) on Channel 4 at the moment and Graham Linehan has just highlighted the Oric Atmos on the set as a particularly notable thing. A small thing perhaps, but it pleased me. Should be on 4OD soon: http://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-it-crow...

Re: Christmas

Merry Christmas Dave, sorry I've not been down your way again to see your collection.

And of course merry christmas to all of the Defence Force members, you're my main source of Oric news and info.

Re: Programming the 6502 - Rodnay Zaks

I bought Zaks one when I started tinkering with 6502 last year. Seems pretty solid having not done a great deal of assembly coding, really only some stuff on the 68000 in the mid 90s.

You might want to have the Oric memory map to hand, but otherwise 6502 coding is pretty generic.

Re: BAT file to run Euphoric on any current operating system

Interesting... I'm guessing some of those lines are looking for existing drive mappings and skipping to the next if it exists?

With the same concept, has anyone created a DOS bootable flash drive to run Euphoric in its native DOS environment from there?

Re: why does defence force suck

It makes me feel sad tbh.

To think someone has so little joy in his life that he spends his time attacking others.

Imagine how lonely he must feel.

Truly a sorry state to be in, especially on valentine's day.

Is there any chance of us ever seeing something like the Spectrum's Divide? Instant load from SDcard from an on screen menu on the Speccy.

Re: Tape deck dying - solution?

Ebay can be a place for getting replacements but the ones I got didn't have the tiny one used for the tape counter. You checked B&Q? They do rubber O-rings for plumbing seals in a range of small sizes for use in valves etc, the smaller ones may be around the right size, thickness and elasticity...

Re: Oric Hard drive

The principle is the same, the problem lies in the interface. I think the two strands we currently have are for different reasons. With floppies, we're retaining some authenticity in the system and using a storage medium that was within the scope of the Oric's life. If we were to use an HD, we'd mee...

Re: Fast scrolling game howto, anyone?

Is that the reason for invisible enemies in Defence Force? I hadn't considered that it would be down to a hardware limitation.

Since we're in text mode, is inverse an option to animate squarih static flashing lights without any extra overhead in characters?

Re: Defence Force

Did you manage to make contact with him at all?

Its a shame if you did and he's not interested. I was looking forward to some more in depth coverage of Oric in RG.

(speaking of which, I can access here but not the RG forum from where I am this month).

This I didn't know. I think I'll just knock up an adapter to plug my Speccy PSU into so I can use it with either.
