Re: The Hellion

My thoughts to expand/explain a few of the earlier levels: 002- NOVEMBER THE 5 TH Reference to November 5th festivities, celebrating the failure of the attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliament in November 5th 1605. It is also referred to as 'bonfire night', hence the enemies on this level take th...

Or better still, an option to configure keys to user preference.

Now that's interesting, I could have used that a few weeks ago. I might still work through this by way of revising my understanding of what I've learned recently.

Re: Switching to and from HIRES mode in assembly?

if you do that you will see only half of the screen as HIRES because around midscreen the HIRES addresses matches the location of the redefined charsets, and some of these values contain values that are interpreted as switch to TEXT attributes. If we know these values exist, can we switch to HIRES ...

Switching to and from HIRES mode in assembly?

I've started tinkering again, but can't find anywhere that tells me how to switch graphic modes in assembly using the OSDK. I'm guessing its just a particular memory location I need to change the value of, but not sure. Also, I'm further guessing there's possibly already a function in the OSDK that ...

The Spectrum version is a looker, but despite its simplified graphics I still spent many hours with the Oric one as its just as playable.

Re: RND function always gives the same sequence of numbers..

So there's no difference in RND(1) or RND(3). My bad, must be mixing up my BASICs. I know one of them resets to the same point if you change the seed, maybe that was Speccy. I remember having to work round the lack of truly random function using loops until a key was pressed to work to a random poi...

Re: RND function always gives the same sequence of numbers..

As I suggested earlier, the real hardware does the same thing. The RND function will generate the same list of numbers, starting at the same point. iirc, you can use RND (1) for example, then RND (3), but if you go back to RND (1) it'll start again with the same list of numbers from the beginning (I...

Re: RND function always gives the same sequence of numbers..

The latter is true of the real hardware, it always generates the same list of 'random' numbers from a given seed.

I'm not sure why your first example is giving true random results.

Re: oric with ANDROID

Some of the iOS emulators have bluetooth connectivity, so you can use a bluetooth keyboard or controller. Typically a Nintendo Wiimote is used, probably because many people have them already. Whether that's the simplest option for Android I don't know, but I'd imagine power drain would be an issue f...

Re: Euphoric on a mobile device?

I've now discovered my iPhone creates copies of the ini files, hence my config not working - I was editing the wrong one. Euphoric does now run on my 3GS, but verrryyy slloooowwwllllyyy. It takes several seconds per frame. Are there old versions of Euphoric available that may run better on this low ...

They've been discussing Tapatalk on the Retro Gamer forum: http://www.tapatalk.com/faq.php Its a free plugin you can enable on the forum that allows browsing on mobile devices without all the scrolling and zooming that's currently required. Having tried the new forum on my iPhone, it could be useful.
