Re: John Gage reviews Damsel In Distress!

Maybe you should try reviewing some games, Rob. I think you'd do a better job. Heh. I don't fancy being 'out there' with a YouTube channel. Too shy these days! I applaud those who are brave enough to put themselves in the firing line though. Maybe a website... that'd be more my area. I used to own ...

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

Okey dokey. Will do as recommended. Looking forward to it. As promised, I'll report back when attempted, hopefully with spiffing news.

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

Btw, you're spot on re. new machines. The W10 lappy I'm using does have only one sound port so it's a good thing I kept my old machines. Had a quick look at both Audacity (free) and the paid equivalent which now seems to be named WavePad. There are two versions - Master's and Standard with different...

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

Thank you so much. The lappy I'm using now is a new one with W10 but my spare machines are old-ish Acer lappies with XP installed so it seems we have similar set-ups. I am going to give this a try very soon and report back. I don't mind paying for software if need be. Back asap. Got lots of work to ...

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

.wav files not an option at this stage because I want to do the programming, saving, etc. on a real Atmos. I want to ensure anything I write works 100% on a real Atmos. I've been using a PC as tape player for my real machines (loading/saving) for 25 years now, and it works fine. Now that IS interes...

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

Many thanks for your time/help with the research, Dbug - much appreciated, and those recorders look interesting and probably compatible for what I need. I will take a closer look later today when I've woken up more. Now my only concern is how I'd actually get the thing. Our lockdown here is very str...

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

If you search on Spanish sites, search for "grabador", and you could find things like that: - 34 euros - https://www.todocoleccion.net/radios-fonografos-grabadoras/antigua-grabadora-vintage-caja-e-instrucciones~x183174693 Thanks for that suggestions. Looks interesting. The recorder pictur...

.wav files not an option at this stage because I want to do the programming, saving, etc. on a real Atmos. I want to ensure anything I write works 100% on a real Atmos. I really don't mind covering the cost of using the services of a courier to get a recorder to me. I've looked all over eBay for a w...

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

The problem is mostly that there's no guarantee that any tape recorder sent to you would be able to load the tapes you have properly. Not a problem. I have some original tapes but I'm not too concerned if they don't load. I need the data recorder to save and load my own work, so it should re-load a...

Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

I am still on the hunt for a tape/data recorder to use with my Atmos via this lead - https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/LQAAAOSwstxU~C-d/s-l1600.jpg Price no object. Will need posting to Tenerife, Canary Islands, which I will more than cover the cost of. Not sure how easy/allowed it is to visit the Post...

Re: More Oric stuff on YouTube

The problem with asking to review bad games, is that this unfortunately propagate the idea that the Oric was a terrible machine. Have to agree with you there, hence Damsel In Distress being worth a review 'cos it wasn't 'bad' exactly, just damn difficult! If I wanted to send a lousy game, I'd fire ...

Re: More Oric stuff on YouTube

Well, the way I see it, the more Oric is mentioned, the better, and we can still comment on videos to point out errors or provide additional information when people ask questions :) Totally agree :) I am most definitely going to be sending more games for John to review. Even the bad games are hilar...

Re: More Oric stuff on YouTube

Guilty as charged :) To be fair to John, he does exactly what he admits to - a quick test and then dives straight into the game.

Not my fault this time but we've got Pulsoids!

More Oric stuff on YouTube

Seems our Oric is getting more and more attention these days. Both the Oric 1 and Atmos (and Tangerine) covered in this YouTube vid:

Re: John Gage reviews Damsel In Distress!

As requested, John Gage has now reviewed Oricium :) Will watch the vid shortly but his comments appear much more favourable than Damsel's!
