Oric on the BBC show Click!

I've just started watching the current episode of Click! on the BBC iPlayer and within the first couple of minutes they visit the computer museum at Bletchley and highlight an Atmos. Its a bit generic and doesn't really say anything about the Oric other than it existed, but its fun to see it on a cu...

With that in mind, how about a Hyperspace Blocker upgrade to buy for your ship? (assuming that's not already in there). Make it a short usage item, perhaps draining energy, so that you have to trigger it just as there's an indication your adversary is about to hyperspace out of there. You might keep...

Other 'rotate and thrust' controlled games?

Inspired by the new and impressive joys of O-Thrust, I started rummaging round the back catalogue for other Oric games that use a similar control scheme. So far from memory I've come up with: O-Thrust Super Meteors Acheron's Rage Pasta Blasta They don't all have the inertia of Thrust/Asteroids, but ...

Can you not offer an option to remap the keys and save the configuration. If it were saved with the same name as the .tap file (for example) it could auto load that keyset with the game so your keys are mapped to the controllers as a 'standard'. Single keypress macro for CLOAD""<enter> wou...

Ok, I can give that a try. I recorded the wav file in mono as I used the original tape deck it was recorded on, which is an old mono deck.

Can anyone fix this game?

http://www.2shared.com/file/HbK5nLrt/mimic.html At the start of secondary school (high school for some I guess, from about age 12-16) in the 80s, I was in class with a lad called Hamish Imlach. Hamish was a nice boy and happened to also be an Oric Owner like myself. We weren't terribly close friends...

I like they key layout, its a logical 'directions on left/actions on right' arrangement that matches many a Spectrum game and is comparable to joypad configurations. I guess the obvious tweak would be to allow customisation of controls to keep everyone happy. I'm not concerned as much with the squar...

Great conversion, but so fast its very twitchy. Maybe it just needs practice, but I guess adding sound would automatically slow things down a little. Impressive work so far though. Definitely one I'll be mentioning on Retro Gamer forum (if you've not already done so). Always good to show the Oric ca...

There's no doubt its doable, but any doubts cast mean the validators will want to see you play, inspect your system etc. There are lots of ways to cheat the system using video evidence, but why bother? I know I can play this game until it hits a kill screen, so it then just becomes a matter of maxin...

That's the thing, for a proper World Record you have to record it on VHS (or similar), from start to finish. Over at the Retro Gaming League, we do rely on player honesty and posted screenshots for our informal gaming. Among friends, it seems to work. I'm just a little disappointed I don't have a pe...

I've lost the knack now, but for a while in my teens I played it an awful lot, for hours on end, day after day, as only teens can. Last time I tried to play it, I only lasted to level 40-something, a long way off my best. If its a noteworthy score, I'm tempted to brush up on it again and record it f...

Defence Force high score

I dug out my Defence Force casette from the loft this week and as I'd hoped, it still has the piece of paper with my personal best high score from the 80s: http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a25/Antiriad2097/MyStuff/PICT0223.jpg Not the best photo, so for clarification it says... Wave 73 Straight into...
