Re: ORIC ULA on a CPLD ?

Tangerine always made a thing about their expertise in ULA design. There was a picture in one article about Oric that showed a £100,000 design computer used to design ULAs. So either they did design it - or they lied a lot. Allegedly Dr Paul Johnson had a drawing of the ULA on his wall, but he would...

Transformer/ power supply

I have a Opelco (Opel) system. This is basically a Cumana interface in a larger case with an extra power supply to power the floppy drives. Mine has a dual power transformer for the drives i.e. it has two outputs. This isn't working. So I'm looking for a replacement - is there any chance? Where can ...

Re: Oric Atmos resets after a few seconds ... when not grounded

There are several tracks cut that I can see on the board. The blue wires may be connecting differently - I'm not sure what is going on there. I'd be inclined to make a note of the connection and then remove and reinstate the cut tracks. (Is this a bad idea ??) There's a capacitor stuck on the 74ls04...

Re: Replacement rubber "feet"

I could probably supply you with an Atmos bottom with feet. (Though the glue on some isn't too great.) I would have though 3D print would be too hard. For quick fixes for things like this you can buy Sugru. www.sugru.com Or else you can get cork or felt feet fairly cheaply. If you get thicker feet d...

Re: John S. Sinclair on Oric.org

Ah - well remembered. I'm pretty sure there was an Ian, as well. I can't find my interview with John to check what he said. I think he mentioned the team behind IJK. Maybe Ian was in the office?

Re: John S. Sinclair on Oric.org

Wasn't it Ian ? i.e IJK = Ian John Keith. There's also the SSS logo on IJK software showing the three Sinclairs.

Re: Atmoses, Microdiscs and Telestrats on ebay

It did seem to work if you check the last picture show a screenshot of the boot screen. But it didn't look like a clear image so wasn't sure if it was tuned in wrong or just not working. I was thinking of putting in a bid but it soon went a bit too high for me. If it was sold as working, it might ha...

Re: Photocopies

Many thanks - good job.

So how do you get the scanned pdf size down? I just scanned 6 pages and got over 10Mb using Open Office. I tried PDF Creator and it produced a file of over 25Mb using the same pages.

I'm scanning at 300dpi - too much ???

Re: Photocopies

Yeah, the OCR software worked quite well back then but more recent programs werent' so simple. I think I used it because it produced smaller files and the scans were quite large. I can't remember if I was on broadband or dial-up back then but size was a big issue. Yes OCR produces errors. There are ...

Re: Photocopies

I've got a corrected version as a Word document - but I don't have Word anymore. Open Office produces the pages with borders that are too large. I can't figure out how to set the formatting on all pages - it just seems to do the page I'm on. If someone has Word or knows how to work Open Office I cou...

Re: Photocopies

I think mine may be photocopied. The text on the main part is pretty clear but the later sections with parts list etc, don't fit on the page properly. It's all single sided. The use of double-line spacing is , I think, what is used on draught copies. The other pages I have are copies in a similar fo...

Re: Photocopies

Interesting. Mine is the only one I've seen - never known of another copy, though they must have sent these out to numerous repair places. I guess most repair places put them in the bin. So, please don't bin yours. Pass it on to someone - raffle it at a CEO meet or something - but don't bin it. Ther...
