Re: Fast scrolling game howto, anyone?

I did some small advances, maybe worth a new demo video. I really think I am posting too many of them :) There are several things to notice, such as the small lateral displacement of the ship to increase the viewing area, the alternative decorations for ships, how the energy indicator can be increas...

Re: Fast scrolling game howto, anyone?

Hi guys. Just a quick note to inform you that, due to some sad family events, I have been (and probably will still be for a few days) quite inactive. However, I made some progress, mainly completing some aspects and testing some ideas. I included some variant in the ship decorations to add some vari...

Re: Bootsector format?

Hi Dbug. You made your point about FAT compatibility. I always forget less and less computers nowadays support floppies :) About this matter, have you taken a look at tap2dsk? I found this code in the store_file routine which seems to fill up the file descriptor. It is not complete, but indicates ho...

Re: Bootsector format?

I'd like to do something like Fantasmagoric, but the code will be different for a number of reasons, one being that for fast loaders 256 bytes sectors are much better than 512 ones (plus I could not care less about MSDOS compatibility). So basically, as soon as I have the code working for Microdisc...

Re: Bootsector format?

Hi Dbug. I'm sorry I cannot be of help here, but I find this extremely interesting. Do you plan to do something similar to Fantasmagoric which boots in any system? Or something based on Sedoric?

I am really interested!

Re: Fast scrolling game howto, anyone?

@Dbug: thanks. My memory failed then... I will have a look at the code. @Symoon: Yep. That was one of the threads we discussed about this. And the reference I posted was from even an older thread. It seems I will have to test on a real machine... The calculations made by Fabrice are theoretically co...

That is incredible! I have problems soldering a cable in a DIN plug and you are able to solder those tiny surface mount components and chips...

Really nice!

Re: Fast scrolling game howto, anyone?

Thanks guys. Glad to see you like it. @iss: pretty sure this has been discussed somewhere else in these forums. In Oricutron (and IIRC in the real Oric) the value is not 20000. It is closer to 19966 if not that exact value. At least that is the value I start with. EDIT: This was written by Fabrice q...

Re: The Return of Viking Chess (Hnefatafl)

I really must stick to my "to do" list... Have the same feeling here... I start opening the todo list, then find it boring and start with something outside of the list. Naturally this cretates more bugs, ideas, etc. so the todo list gets larger and larger... I have decided to fix at...

Re: Fast scrolling game howto, anyone?

I agree with your comments, Dbug. Not sure, but I recall I did not have difficulties on the real machine. Anyway I had some similar idea about the shields. See the glowing energy balls you can collect? And the bar on the score panel? :) But I am not decided yet. There are other possible usages for t...

Re: Fast scrolling game howto, anyone?

More small advances. I have hunted down an ugly bug and sort a bit the difficulty increasing with level, and worked out some other general aspects. Still need some tweaking, but it is evolving as expected with the little free time I've got. Anyway time for another video, I think. This time it shows ...

Re: Fast scrolling game howto, anyone?

There be items to pick up! Yep. Small effort this time and I got the items (pickups/powerups/whatever) working!. Just a preliminary test, but items will appear randomly (well, not so randomly but you get the point) when destroying enemies... Of course with their sfx when they appear and when you pi...
