Re: Oriclopedia: A series of videos on all things Oric

Wow, I'm totally speechless! Congrats for Oric Nova64's - they look in very good shape and making them work should be easy. IMO, you may definitely do something with the power boxes - it's pity to have such big case only for power supply. If you already have a Gotek can you check how it fits...

Re: ROM 1.22?

I am curious, however, about why you want to put a new ROM in an Oric. For those particular ROMs 1.2x I'm really nice surprised by the way they are made - all changes are on carefully selected places, without affecting the well known and commonly used BASIC entry points, so no big concerns about th...

Do you have the same problem within other address ranges?
No, I've tested every page as read buffer and it works i.e. no problems at 0x0200-0x02FF, 0x0400...0x8FFF and even 0xC000...0xFFFF with RAM overlay enabled.

Re: ROM 1.22?

Just remember that the Oric with the EPROM won't work with a disk interface (I think also won't with Erebus) out of the box. It needs some hardware patching. +1 Good advice! And the common sense is to follow it ... but don't forget this is Oric ! Here is at-least one proof that there are exceptions...

Re: Atmos ROM

Bit delayed but as promised here are the results from the test : https://youtu.be/9QGZiYRlDH4 I used Jasmin instead of Microdisc (because it's on my small working table already) but there should be no differences related to /ROMDIS signal. I'll repeat the test with Microdisc asap just to be 120% su...

Re: ROM 1.22?

DigitalDunc wrote: Fri Jan 10, 2020 8:08 amWould there be many changes required to run these new ROM images on a real Oric? I’m aware the keyboard could be an issue.
What you mean with "changes"? You need to burn the ROM-file to а suitable EPROM (for instance 27128) with an programmer and use it.

Re: Jasmin time

Maybe I need to read your messages more carefully... @Chema ; Please, do it, your opinion is important for me, honestly :!: Above problem is not related to any alignment. My (thanks to jorodr's ) Jasmin controller is most probably faulty. Something happens with the data bus and WD1770 starts to beh...

Re: Jasmin time

After almost one month of 24/7 hard fight with Jasmin I can say that I'm really(!) close to finish this project ... surprisingly with success! :) Here is a story about the last issue I hit (sorry for the number of videos): From the very beginning of my work I prepared some demos with series of sampl...

Re: Jasmin time

... Jasmin's independent clock should cause a race condition on the data request bit ... Yes, there is such race condition and even more - what you read from status/data registers depends on alignment of some addresses  . I'm preparing to publish lot of info which I've collected recently... ...

Re: ROM 1.22?

@HigashiJun : if you download the ZIP files and decompress them then you'll find documents for each version which describe very detailed all changes. What I can make as conclusion is that all "localized" versions (i.e. uk,fr,de,se,es) are made to be used only with emulators, so your "...

Re: Clock Signal — an Oric emulator for macOS and Linux

Thanks, @ThomH ! Perfectly timed release - just what I need at the moment :). About the Jasmin button: actually there are 2 buttons on Jasmin ver.2 ;) - the left button acts as simple reset with paged BASIC ROM, the right button activates Jasmin ROM tries to boot and if there is no disk then falls b...

Re: ROM 1.22?

Every zip file contains a nice document with all changes explained - very good! With quick compare I counted dozens of JSR/RTS -> JMP - this will give some speed up. Else what bothers me is the software compatibility but I think the changes are made very clever and the chance that something fails is...

Re: Oriclopedia: A series of videos on all things Oric

Thanks, Dbug, very cool video! I have some comments: - I know everyone is aware of this simple rule, so just a remainder: Safety first! Avoid to plug/unplug cables when devices are powered-on! ;) - Your Oric got frozen twice in very specific condition - whole (video) memory filled with 0x55 except t...
