### Re: Wolfenstein / DOOM for Oric : has this been done?

Do you have pointers to what you call run-slice? I assume you are referring to a particular algorithm but a cursory search does not give any useful results. Oh, sorry — it's actually the much lesser-seen Bresenham algorithm. Much easier to derive though: If the target line is (x, y) and, for agumen...

### Re: Wolfenstein / DOOM for Oric : has this been done?

I guess you could use a small window and squeeze a double buffer into text mode, but I guess then you're probably at 64x48 or somewhere around that? I strongly suspect that's the equivalent of what the Vic Doom is doing, from looking at the window size. Otherwise all I can think of is keeping the wa...

### Re: Wolfenstein / DOOM for Oric : has this been done?

Haha, so the amount of time I spent persuading myself that it's really a multiply by cosine rather than a divide was actually a substantial proportion of the original time spent on the demo!

I should spend my time firing up an assembler rather than drawing pictures.

### Re: Wolfenstein / DOOM for Oric : has this been done?

I assume that it's not all that helpful to make the standard recommendations? don't associate angles one-to-one with screen columns — build a table of casting angle per column slice as an offset from the centre ahead of time as a function of atan, because you're solving for the angle inside a right-...

### Re: Wolfenstein / DOOM for Oric : has this been done?

I've not seen one. I definitely think something like that would be easily within the Oric's scope, and as to reproducing Doom in the sense that the other 8-bit versions do, the algorithm isn't even that hard I think: they don't do variable height sectors and the Spectrum Doom in particular is heavil...

### Re: Steam/GOG

That probably raises some questions about the Microdisc ROM, and similarly might lead to the same queries re: the Jasmin or any other disk system you've provided a compatible boot sector for, but it would substantially reduce the list of potentially interested parties. If it definitively removed any...

### Re: Steam/GOG

I agree that this would be ideal from a non-technical user standpoint. I've ticketed it for myself, which generally means it'll get done because I'm loathe to close those things without resolving the underlying problem. Isn't the copyright on the Oric boot screen referencing only Tangerine and not ...

I'm going to be busy playing these games now rather than working on the emulator.
That's how you know you're doing a good job!

### Re: JOric

I'm not catching bits so those titles would load more slowly. But anything that loads bytes will load quickly irrespective of whether it's TAP, CSW or whatever else. TAP isn't a special case. But emulators that aren't JOric aside: just byte catching will do for Stormlord, Impossible Mission and most...

### Re: JOric

Cool! I followed the exact same route: from Vic-20 to Oric emulation. Probably being the person to have written what was until just now the most recent new Oric emulator, definitely don't hesitate to shoot over any questions if I can be any help. Top tips: Use the test ROM to be able quickly to test...

### Re: Clock Signal — an Oric emulator for macOS and Linux

Quick update! I've uploaded a new release. Of the issues listed it corrects:
• include paths for the SDL target; and
• HFE support.
The latter tested with the conversion of 1337 attached.

### Re: Clock Signal — an Oric emulator for macOS and Linux

Thanks for taking my wish so serious :). I checked the latest release (MacOS High Sierra 10.13.3). It works fine with DSK images. ... But none of my HFE images are working. :( I use the command line tool to convert DSK to HFE. Can you attach any HFE which works for you to test? I didn't have any Or...

### Re: Oricutron and Mac Sierra and High Sierra

So maybe its something with app bundle signing that is not working any more? Perhaps its time for an updated public release build that signs the bundle per the latest MacOS requirements? Speculating wildly, but signing the bundle requires a certificate, which is available only with a paid subscript...

### Re: Steam/GOG

If it's not too self-promotional, I'll just point out: Clock Signal's SDL kiosk mode is exactly the sort of emulator described, and should work anywhere that SDL works, subject to currently assuming that there's a keyboard providing input. The reason I don't generally mention that you could build fo...

One wish from me: I want to have HFE with Oric too .
Your wish is my command. The newest release attempts to support HFE images of Oric disks. If you have any testing material or any feedback, let me know!
