Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

As a side note, it is not that the disk is being written as high density, because if I remove the tape covering the hole write2dsk fails completely

Oric DSK Manager

Hey guys, great news! Completely out of the blue and after many requests by some Spanish Oric users, overCLK, yet another Spanish Orician released this fantastic tool for editing a Sedoric (only for now) disk images. You can use drag and drop to inject/extract files from taps or other dsk. You can g...

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

Yep I am confused too. There must be something stupid I am not seeing. I used readdsk today to dump the contents of the DD and the HD disks, just in case writedsk2 was doing something strange with the interleave. After all it relays on go32_dpmi to format tracks and write sectors.... In any case bot...

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

I think writedsk2 puts the correct values, iss. Don't bother too much, because both images work well with real disks. And, for what we are discussing now, I made all the floppies with the new image, so the difference is not there. Based on the symptoms I'd say that it is as if the interleaving is no...

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

Beware you now have version 1.2, so it is different from the official one!!! In fact this one supports Jasmin and has some minor typos corrected (though has not been thoroughly tested yet).

But the official version also includes the same geometry and interleaving.

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

@Symoon, not sure. The Microdisc controller chip 197x is the one which should decode the signal, and it does not support HD disks (I think). In any case, I put tape on the hole, so the disk should have been written as DD (the bit density is half in DD). The transfer rate should be the same, and when...

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

You may think I am mad, but look at this video. Created 4 disks with the same image and same tools: two are DD and two are HD.

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

Are you sure? I think that when I made the tests with different geometries the resulting dsk had the sectors in different orders. I am quite sure of that to be honest.

Surely Dbug can tell...

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

Mmmm... I am not sure. First the disk was formatted in HD DOS format. I clearly saw writedsk2 plotting a F from time to time, which means that it failed trying to write a sector so it formatted the track and retried. This may happen with non formatted disks whenever a track starts in the writing pro...

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

I had quite a surprise this evening. I was preparing my physical edition of the game with the last version and I decided to use a high-density disk covering the squared hole. I have several double density disks, so I always used them, but I wanted a black disk with no label, and so I took one of my ...

Re: Experimental very fast tape loading

It could well be some kind of sound when starting the player... Did not check, as the Oric usually waits for the sync  Sorry I should have made sure.

But if the boat image loads well, it means the system works

It came out irregularly and this one states at the beginning that it's going to be the last one :(

So I suppose they put all the content they had together....

Re: Blake's 7 feedback and review thread

Yes, they asked me to provide some insights about the development and some screenshots of my tools.

In fact the whole articles are practically what I sent them with little editing, but, well it is a fan magazine...
