Re: My new Cumana drive ;)

has anyone done a feature comparison of the various bits of hardware now available to us, detailing the pros and cons of each? I was considering making an episode of Oriclopedia on the topic, with original Microdisc/Cumana, Jasmin, Tape drive, and from there was you get with Cumulus and Erebus, and...

Re: My new Cumana drive ;)

Has anyone tried the "Pushing the envelope" demo? When it loads from disk the sound glitches out. This does not happen with a Cumulus. I tried both an Oric 1 and an Atmos. The glitches are to be expected, that was the first version of the loading routines, and during loading the music does not play...

Re: I2C for the Oric

I probably misunderstood something, but I thought this device plugged in the printer board, thus not interfering with a disc unit. Sure, but then you can't print or use most of the joystick adapters, we are back to the "I can use this, but not that anymore" issue :D Making it part of the cumana reb...

Re: I2C for the Oric

Whilst I may not be able to make a commercial plug in module, I would like as many people as possible to make it useful and can only imagine how cool it'd be to have a Cumana with WiFi capabilities .. The main issue at the moment, is that we have multiple devices that are mutually exclusive, or suf...

I did watch this video a couple months ago, it was quite cool, specially when I knew in advance why this and that happened :)

Re: Connecting to a tape recorder in 2019

If it's for your own stuff, on new tapes, pretty much everything would work as long as you keep the volume at the same position. One major issue with old equipment, is that the belts (everything made of rubber) tends to either dry out or revert to some gooey tar form, lubricated parts (bearings, cap...

Re: Connecting to a tape recorder in 2019

I still have no cassette/data recorder :( Any that I find online either have horrendous reviews or lousy pictures/descriptions that don't include port/socket info. I have the lead connector from Cool Novelties - https://www.ebay.com/itm/ORIC-1-ORIC-ATMOS-CASSETTE-TAPE-RECORDER-CABLE-LEADS/321775032...

Re: Tendre Poulet - used AIC?

In general for these things the best is to not look at videos but directly go on oric.org and get the 240x224 screenshots, get them in a painting program and apply a 6x8 grid on the top and zoom. https://www.oric.org/software/tendre_poulet-1132.html The title is using alternated colors: - CYAN and B...

Re: Tendre Poulet - used AIC?

It's not AIC, it's just using odd and even lines for different combinations of paper and ink, other games did that, like Psychosomething. Let's call that AC. The important part of AIC is the I: Inverted, it's selecting specific colors for each odd and even ink and paper combination so when you use t...

Re: missing titles

It's more like a case of not enough time by people to capture/convert properly all the titles, plus the fact that some never made it into the hands of people doing conversions.

Re: Oriclopedia: A series of videos on all things Oric

Nice video DBug. A very good report and thanks a lot for giving us the links to read these strange magazines of the 80's I'll look deeper in the files i've as i'm sure i've some theoric disks somewhere, working with oricutron I'm actually glad I'm done with that one, covering Théoric was on my list...

Re: Oriclopedia: A series of videos on all things Oric

I won't give you an Oscar for the fake reading at the beginning    , but the overall video quality has really much improved! Good sound, great pictures, ... The result of the work is visible and that's cool ;) I added quick links to all the parts of the video in the descr...

Re: Oriclopedia: A series of videos on all things Oric

Took a long time, had a bunch of issues (literally!), but there it is, another long Oriclopedia about Théoric (as well as Računari and Svet Kompjutera):

Re: eBay game prices

That's actually a topic I was thinking of discussing with you guys: For my videos I had to get many lots of stuff (from eBay, from leboncoin, from random places you never heard of), and I ended up with a bazillion of duplicates. I did try to do some swaps, had limited success, hopefully Symoon, Baz ...

I'm now waiting for a few more chips (rams, 6502, soundchips, capacitors and tension regulator)
Sounds like you have a rare early clockwork version of Oric there ... :)
Tss tss, ok, Voltage Regulator :p
And while I was at it, I got a 65816->6502 board to play with 16 bit code.
