How to post nice message...

Introduction Hello, hello. Since we now have quite a number of messages and users, I think it's time to give some indications about how to post messages. Do not worry, this will not be very long, and you will probably agree with most of it, and perhaps discover things too :) Personal information Fi...

Re: Womble here...

Any recommendations for demos and games? I get the impression that due to its short life it never got pushed as far technically as say the Speccy or C64 did, many of the games look rather, umm well early 80s as opposed to the amazing things folk managed to get the speccy to do in the early 90s, I g...

Another advantage of using 'graphic' text, is that it is possible to use special codes to draw graphics in the text, like for example if you have a character that tell you that you need a key, it can be displayed like this: "In order to open the door, you need the [magnetic key graphics] that you wi...

Unfortunately the Oric doesn't have a midi player or converter and even if it did it would be a terribly inefficient way of storing the music. Already forgot about Fabrice's 'Karoke' program ? > P. S. may be it will be funny too if we have midi player for Oric that > can play simple three track mid...

I started integrating the native support for BASIC in the OSDK. What this mean, is that people using the BASIC language will be able to use it more comfortably: - Code examples in the sample folder - PictConv and Bin2Txt modified so they can also output DATA lines - Possibility to build a TAP progra...

I like the overall idea. I am not sure how all the process for crunching and decrunching is done for testing (I understand the idea, but don't know how it would affect the compile/run/test loop I currently do with a couple of keystrokes). Well, I sure hate wasting my time with complicated stuff, so...

About the colors, Twilighte is right when he says that we can use alternated scanlines. We are not obliged to use pure colors, alternative two colors on odd/even lines works very well. Also consider having a blinking routine that change between two complete sets of colors at a specific interval, for...

I guess that this kind of read/write functions could be integrated in the OSDK, sounds good :)

Would be probably a good idea to talk about the music player/routine/format in another thread, perhaps in the audio section. Because else it become quite long and all mixed. Also Jame, do not hesitate to DELETE your posts if they are duplicated (I did it myself), or to EDIT your posts if you want to...

Until otherwise decided, this is going to be a video adventure game, not a platform-like game. Mainly because my own interests and also because it won't be quick enough as to permit a fluent gameplay in the second case :( I totaly agree with that. A good adventure game with lot's of dialogs and int...

Integrating BASIC in the OSDK ?

Since I'm soon releasing a new version of the OSDK, I was wondering if it would not be the right time to integrate txt2bas and bas2txt as parts of the OSDK. Basicaly this would mean: 1) Possibility to add .BAS files in the osdk_config.bat files 2) Running osdk_build.bat would generate a .tap file as...

From the second message in the thread: Basicaly what I did was to replay Thrust music on my Atari ST, replacing the YM output by a write in memory in a big buffer, then I saved the buffer, and transformed it a bit to something more compact and usable on the Oric. So this routine is just a 'AY regist...

Ok, never mind, the crash using F1 was because the OSDK was still using the old 1004a version of Euphoric.

I upgraded to build 1007, updated the associated documentation, and added a way to have the OSDK automaticaly use DOSBox if it is installed.

So next version should have Euphoric in a Windows :D

Euphoric and DosBOX

Still on my way to try to find out the best way to get a windowed version of Euphoric, I tried DosBox . The software is actually quite simple to use, and Euphoric runs partly fine. At least I can run programs, and have access to the debugger. One problem exist... it crashes when I press F1 to access...

Well yes, there is one single routine called from everywhere, for each single YM register you need to select the right IO stuff and write the right value to send to the YM processor.
