Looking for MCP 40 paper rolls

Does anyone know where I could find some paper rolls *IN EUROPE* for an Oric MCP40 printer? The specs are: - standard (non thermal) single layer roll paper - 114mm (4.5") wide In Europe I only found thermal versions, and most of the places that have the right type of rolls are in USA, but paper is h...

Re: Oric Atmos manual wanted

Maybe you're right. It's just that I've watched loads of 'trash to treasure' restoration videos of really messy computers being made spotless and 'as new'. It has always involved soldering, cleaning and replacing iffy or potentially iffy parts.(...) Any chance there's actually a business that speci...

Re: Oric Atmos manual wanted

I think contrary to many machines, when you get an Oric it either works or it does not, most of them are not pristine anyway because there was so many hardware patches done here and there to make them work with various peripherals :) Of all the machines I had over the years, only one had ever needed...

Looking for "Écriture stylée sur MCP40"

Hi, in Théoric #25 there was some small program to make the MCP 40 writes using some hand-written styled font: http://www.defence-force.org/computing/oric/library/lib_magazine/theoric/files/theoric-25.pdf (page 14). Does anyone know if the software can be downloaded somewhere so I don't have to type...

Re: ORIC SDCARD

Since you have freebanks, you could probably have both the Oric 1 and Oric Atmos versions of the ROM and allow the user to boot in Oric 1 or Oric Atmos mode, and have the games flagged as compatible with specific versions of the ROM, would make Atmos users allow to play Oric 1 games, and Oric 1 (or ...

Re: Pictoric (was: New conversion algorithm)

EDIT: Just saw SAM's answer, discard that message: That's interesting: When I do that with the pipi algorithm, the picture stays globally the same because after conversion what you got is a picture that follows the Oric format, so there's no need to compute error factors, etc... I've used that a lo...

Re: ORIC SDCARD

Could you briefly explain how that works, does the device contain a patched ROM that takes over the CLOAD command and display the menu?

A device that does both what your device does, and what Cumulus does, would be awesome :)

Re: Pictoric (was: New conversion algorithm)

@peacer: If you take the generated pictures and clean the noise pixels (like for example the blue and white dots on the background of the girl with pearl earring or the green pixels at the bottom of the dali, and you reconvert the picture, do you get an even better result?

Re: Oriclopedia: Tansoft

Oh and Le Manoir du Dr Genius does have graphics, I guess that's what made it famous along with Keikekankoi at the time ;) I had never seen Intertron. That would be a cool candiate for recording/scanning ;) Oops, well, that's a bummer, and of course now it's not possible to add annotations on video...

Re: Oriclopedia: Tansoft

After Tansoft, time to look at the French heavyweight champion of Oric Software: Loriciels!

Hopefully this time everything is in the camera frame!

I agree, not perfect, but at least it's not factually wrong from A to Z, and they are explaining the games quite nicely :)

Re: Oriclopedia: Tansoft

Second video in the Oriclopedia category. Currently watching it little by little in the transports as I'm going at work. A few things that you may try next time, for better watching experience (I know it's not so easy!): - give more angle to the camera so we can see the screen more. - adjust the to...

Re: New conversion algorithm

it is just that I thought that colored pictures always need to have these 6 black pixels in the start of a line to make early changes in the ink more easy It's very common to have Oric pictures (or game screens) start with a PAPER color attribute, sometimes displayed in inverted video to give a dif...

[*] 240x200 pixels, columns 1 to 6 left blank (the algorithm will ignore these pixels anyway)
Why ignoring the first 6 pixels, does that mean we can't convert a 240x200 black and white picture, it will not convert the first 6 pixels on the left?

Re: New conversion algorithm

Question: Given an actual Oric picture screenshot as an input (so something that is already using the right colors, but we don't technically know if that was achieved with paper, ink or invert tricks), is your algorithm able to reproduce a 100% visually identical image, or will there be some errors ...
