Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

Also remember to not have any "system sound" or "email client" or anything else doing "bleeps" and "plops" when you try to load, because they will also reach the Oric.

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

Just make sure that everything is connected on the same power plug/circuit when you connect the Oric to the PC.

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

If you search on Spanish sites, search for "grabador", and you could find things like that: - 34 euros - https://www.todocoleccion.net/radios-fonografos-grabadoras/antigua-grabadora-vintage-caja-e-instrucciones~x183174693 Thanks for that suggestions. Looks interesting. The recorder pictured however...

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

Imo, your best bet is to use eBay, or a local equivalent (like the Spanish Todocoleccion), because I do have some tape drives, but I already had to pay the exorbitant shipping costs to get them to Norway, so to not lose I would have to sell it for an even ridiculously higher price :D If you search o...

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

The problem is mostly that there's no guarantee that any tape recorder sent to you would be able to load the tapes you have properly.

Re: More Oric stuff on YouTube

The problem with asking to review bad games, is that this unfortunately propagate the idea that the Oric was a terrible machine. That may be funny to watch, but the long term negative effects are not awesome. I'd rather see people only try all the good games, and specially the recent ones: It's supe...

Re: More Oric stuff on YouTube

Well, the way I see it, the more Oric is mentioned, the better, and we can still comment on videos to point out errors or provide additional information when people ask questions :)

Re: Connectivity problems (again)

Since the last remaining warnings on the error.log were related to dokuwiki, I removed the remnants of the two plugins "importoldindex" and "importoldchangelog", for all I see, the wiki is still working, but please poke me if you notice anything wrong. I can now clearly see that some people are tryi...

Re: Planned Server Downtime

Currently doing the backup of the important data in case something goes wrong, then power down, replace the Samsung 840 EVO by the 860 EVO I bought last week.

I think LED2 is indicating a RAM failure.
Ha ok, so LEDs are basically just writing a number in binary, which is the status code?
Guess I'll have to unsolder the ram chips and try to replace them, see if that helps.

Thanks.

Re: Diagnostic cartridges?

So, I got Vyper's diagnostic cartridge, and tried it on some of the Nova 64, but I'm not quite sure about what the status led mean: What does it mean when on startup the 6 led briefly appear and then only the led D2 is on, and the machine frozen with a loud electronic weeerrrrring sound?
