I agree.

I have my Atmos connected to Commodore 1084S and the 1902A no look different. in the 1084S the Horizontal Sync pin is valid for composite sync too.

For sync you must use the Horizontal Sync pin.

You should amplify the signal to 1Vpp level. Time ago, I pull out the PAL video composite signal from UHF modulator input for feed, amplifying the signal by means of a video amplifier, a Commodore 1702 video monitor and work fine.
