Re: Not another boulder dash clone!

Just had a quick play... very nice.

I was a huge Boulderdash fan back in the day (on my Atari 800XL).
I like the fact that you have gone away from the blocky graphics of the Atari to produce this.

Very polished. Well done.

Free Usborne books

While I know that most of these are not directly targeted at Oric users, I thought people might still be interested in these for nostalgic reasons. Usborne's computer programming books from the 1980's are now FREE to download. http://www.usborne.com/catalogue/feature-page/computer-and-coding-books.a...

Very impressive.
I'm constantly amazed at what people are squeezing out of the 8-bits today.

Re: RIP Twilighte

A very sad day indeed.

I didn't know Twilighte personally, but I do know he touched a lot of peoples live. My condolences go out to his family and friends.

Re: Zorgon's Revenge Longplay (Youtube)

Superbly done.
I remember finishing Zorgon's just once back in the day, but it took me quite a bit longer than 6 and half minutes.

Top 10 Oric moments...

After seeing a similar thread on AtariAge, and as it is the Oric's 30th year, I thought I would ask the same question here. What are your top ten Oric related moments? I'll start with mine: 1 - Seeing the Oric-1 demo tape for the first time. Up until then, my benchmark for computer demos was the Spe...

I haven't seen a copy of AUG anywhere for ages. I guess everyone who has a copy is holding onto them like the holy grail.

Re: Simple multiplication

Thanks for the answers guys, plus the tip of using tables for screen coordinates, I can see how that could save a massive number of clock cycles.

Re: Are there any english Oric mags left?

Where is Scotland are you from? There used to be a West Lothian User Group. (Long since folded.) I'm currently in Elgin (north Scotland), but I'm originally from the south of England. I was in Devon when I first bought an Atmos. Oric User Monthly was the longest running UK magazine. There were a fe...

Simple multiplication

Just checking I have understood things. I have written, what I hope is a simple multiplication routine to multiply 2 bytes, returning a word. This could obviously be very useful for calculating screen addresses. Just want to check that what I have come up with is as efficient as possible, so I would...

Did Oric ever have a mascot?

I was thinking about this today, and I can't seem to think of a single character, from a game, that could possibly be described as a mascot for the Oric. On the Spectrum, there was, at first, Hungry Horace, then they had Miner Willy, followed by Sabre Man, and finally Egghead... each of which could ...
