Re: DRAMARDUINO - Dram tester with Arduino
Hi Iss, This was timed beautifully, for an upcoming 'Japanese Computing' exhibition at the Centre For Computing History in Cambridge I was testing my Sanyo MBC555 and the CGA card in there has 8x41256 chips on board. I built the tester on a breadboard and it works perfectly, thanks! Unfortunately it...

Re: Key presses not working in games
Never mind, joysticks work and I'm reminded just how bloody hard Defence Force is. Interestingly the last time I had all these machines out I couldn't get Xenon working at all, with a new image write to a 3.5" floppy it works first time.

Key presses not working in games
Hello folks, I recently resurrected a twin 3.5" floppy drive stack and set it to work on various machines, the Oric being one of them with my Cumana interface. Using a similar setup to the last time I attempted this with 5.25" disks I've written images for the usual suspects (Defence Force...

Re: Sedoric warning "DOS is altered!"
Coo, I didn't know that. What was it released as on the Beeb?I would guess it isn't ROM dependent because it was written on the BBC computer and ported across to Oric.

Re: Sedoric warning "DOS is altered!"
A long shot, but why not try to boot Sedoric, select Oric 1 rom in overlay ram, then load with !LOAD ? Good point, or I could just plug the Cumana interface into a working Oric 1 assuming they haven't all developed faults in the last year. The one on this disk image works I'll give it a go tomorrow...

Re: Sedoric warning "DOS is altered!"
BTW, google-ing "Sedoric warning "DOS is altered!" returns this info at first place. I'm sure I tried that but maybe missed 'Sedoric' off the search meaning I got drowned in MSDOS problems. I did wonder if the (Slv) in the disk label meant it was a slave to something and obviously mo...

Sedoric warning "DOS is altered!"
Hi folks, My google-fu is failing me on this one, some disks I create using WRITEDSK start to boot but then give up with this warning in angry red text. I can read the disk contents if I boot Sedoric3 and swap disks, games will run (mostly) but I'm conscious of not having enough RAM left. Anyone kno...

Xenon on a real Oric
Hi folks,
I'm trying to run Xenon on a real machine and all the images I've tried freeze at the attract screen. Has anyone got a DSK that isn't on the TOSEC archives?

Re: writing disk images for a real Oric
Ta very much!
It always surprises me how much intermingling there is ! Obvs I've known Xeron for years and years but not in an Oric way I've moved on from Orics to Apple][s at the mo and I'd love to think at some point I could leave work and do this sort of thing full time. Pipe dreams eh...

Re: writing disk images for a real Oric
Hello matey,
Small world in retrocomputing... It's partially your fault that I'm here in the first place, Instead of spending ages writing disks that may not work I could test images in Oricutron beforehand, it's great to have several Orics on my imac at once
Top work sir.

Re: writing disk images for a real Oric
and I've just had a small maniacal laugh to myself when WRITEDSK successfully wrote SEDORIC3.DSK  Much playing around with jumpers and 4 different floppy drives showed the first drive I used was ok all along and it was just the BIOS setting that clinched it - it's now set to 360K 5.25"...

Re: writing disk images for a real Oric
Hi Symoon, This should solve about 90% of the loading problems ;) Yep, I got that working 100% last night, though some games need to be in 'oric 1' mode before they'll run. Still, nice to have reliability and it means I can leave out the disk interface if I can't get it running. Romu's page is the o...

writing disk images for a real Oric
Hi folks, New here, nice to see the Orics still have support in 2016 :D I own http://www.binarydinosaurs.co.uk and am trying to resurrect my Oric 1s and Atmos' for an upcoming exhibition in the UK and have to admit I'm struggling with getting my machines to do anything other than boot SEDORIC V1 or ...
