Re: "Games Computing" almost complete collection

They were quite supportive of Oric and even produce a special magazine which was all Oric content. Argus also produce Personal Computer News (IIRC) which had some stuff for Oric (and Microtan). And also Computing Today http://www.flaxcottage.com/ComputingToday/default.asp Some good games though one ...

Re: ORIC trademark

UK trademarks should be renewed ever 10 years so it's pretty certain that Oric trademarks are no longer valid.

Re: Is BD-DOS lost to time?

This post is from a while back - but in reply, I don't have disk image, but do have the physical disk(s). I think Rob K had an extension board on his Oric-1 with Basic Rom which may have been Basic 5? I've never yet had time to look at this system and see what works. I might try and copy the files o...

Re: Cricket OUM

Maybe - I don't remember where the Tap file was from.
I could try recording the tape again. I'll try and find some time!

Re: Cricket OUM

I think you must have done it already, as the Tap file is from me. Yes, there are also the scans I did of the Mirage instruction sheets which are clearer/ easier to read than the Oric.org ones. I also recorded the audio on the B side which features music done by Rob Cook using Composer software. Coo...

Re: 2023 OUM Editor Meet-up photo

We had the last one in 1999 (IIRC). We tried to get a meet up in the Rhetoric days but couldn't quite manage it - we need people like Dave to sort things out ! We nearly got me and Twi gathered at the Computing museum at Bletchly Park, but Twi said he wasn't feeling well at the last minute. It was s...

Re: Oricutron HFE

Tetrix had some weird thing where if you tried to copy the disk you got a corrupted one. There was a special master disk for making copies IIRC.

Re: Oric 1 keys

Some seem to get affected by light or something and can yellow. The prototype was a different colour, but they should be pretyt much the same, I think. They may have switched production sites at one point IIRC - (look in 'The Story So Far ...') Which may result in a slight variation, but I think if ...

Re: how to setup and use greaseweazle v4

I used the FluffmyFloppy software mentioned above. It has settings for ST, Amiga etc. It seems sensitive though and you can get errors which stops the disk booting. You need a good drive - preferrably an old DD - and good disks. I've tried several disks and had errors on each. Only through help here...

Re: Tapes not loading

Clean the tape head and roller. Make sure your leads are the right way round. Swap the ear and mic pover just to check. If you have a mulitmeter you can set it to 'continuity' so if you touch the probe together it will make a noise. That is the easy way to check your cable - touch both ends and see ...

Re: DOS on the Oric 1?

I've used my Oric-1 with Sedoric on the Cumana and it also ran OricDOS. Oric-1 also had the Byte Drive 500.

The important bit seems to be if it has the EPROM version of the ROM as that won't have Romis and a disk drive won't work.
