Re: Full Telestrat in Ebay

This is happening in all the retro scene with rare computers. This prices make it impossible for most users who would, in fact, use the system, acquire one.

Oh, and btw I am quite sure that the Telestrat emulation is broken in Oricutron.

Full Telestrat in Ebay

A bit old, but thought somebody might be interested... though the price is madness. It is a pity prices for these old machines is so high... and there is already a bid :( http://www.ebay.es/itm/Oric-Telestrat-Piece-exceptionnelle-pour-musee-ou-collectionneur-/302451023189?hash=item466b7c5d55:g:PzcAA...

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

Adding small details to bring some rooms to life, such as this, before black and empty, screen... Marvels of multitasking scripting... ;)

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

In Space 1999 we had footsteps, door hiss, the elevator, some small tunes and UI sfx. There was indeed a sfx of computers beeping which appeared in a couple of rooms only. Here we have all those too (except the computer beeps, which I might add), plus many others such as teleport and some surprises,...

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

This is nothing that can't be done. In fact I simply did not add more background sfx to avoid them being annoying: just the main character footsteps and door hiss when opening doors, and others just when you do things, solve puzzles and so on. Something very little intrusive, so they give informatio...

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

It was a pretty good idea, Symoon. It's just that I could not find a way to do it better :(

But it was a good challenge, and I'd learnt a lot!

I'd like to hear more opinions and ideas, anyway.

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

Unfortunately, I agree with ibisum. It was fun, entertaining and I learnt a lot. I even discovered a couple of small bugs while testing this, but the benefits are not as I expected. Probably with samples or more control over the sound chip, nice things could be done, but this it not the case.... I w...

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

@ibisum, I'm not sure... but it is worth trying anyway. I have tweaked the whole system, increased the volume, added different base pitch as suggested by Dbug and synchronized (a bit) the lips with the sounds. It looks much better, in my opinion, but still uncertain about it reaching the final versi...

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

ha ha ha good point Dbug. That is exactly what I am trying to do... but that won't decide between man/woman... just a base for the note variations which may coincide or not :) One thing. I just added pauses in the talk animation whenever there is a pause in the sfx (which occur, in turn, when there ...

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

I guess the thing is if it is good enough as to be kept in a final version or not. Or if it is good enough as to not include other features because of it... I will try to tweak a few things to make it slightly better. I might find a hack to make small alterations to the sounds so they seem different...

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

Well, unless I need the space and there is no way to get it through some code revising, this does not need to be dropped. Specially when the player can deactivate it. The thing is that I need to tweak more code in order to produce the same effect in other cases (not only on the Talk command associat...

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

I tend to agree with Ibisum. These sounds get annoying very quickly. That is why I quickly added the option to the game menu so the player can deactivate them  I even find them annoying in The Sims and other newer games after some time. I also tried to use higher pitches. But the higher the...

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

Hi guys. Following your suggestions I've made my best to incorporate the speech sounds (and a way to disable them in the game menu, of course). This is the best I could do and they are eating nearly all my free memory. They are not as fun and great as I'd imagined... Any comments or suggestions are ...

Re: FloppyBuilder evolution

I had the toolchain setup and made some tests, but I changed my hard drive since, and now all that is lost (the old HD simply broke down :( ). There is a list of things that should be done to the firmware, and there was some enthusiasm to do so at the beginning, but soon after everybody disappeared ...
