Re: EDGE - a new game which needs sounds and music

Hey! This is a great surprise indeed!

I cannot try it just now... but will do ASAP. In any case new productions coming out of the blue are always welcome :)

+1 to switch to asm if you want performance in little space.

Re: [ORIC HD] Final release of the USB key reader and micro sdcard on the Oric

Nice jede!

Do you mean that there is no software "driver" to use it on the Atmos?

What would be needed to have, say, simple commands as cat/dir, cd, and load to use it for loading games?

Re: Parity check live

Oh, yes of course. I misunderstood the problem.

I remember a copy program on the speccy that was stored on screen memory and it prevented overwriting on that area only.

The copied program had some rubbish on the loading screen, but it was a minor issue.

Not the same case here, though.

Re: Parity check live

Loading a hires scream will it be a problem if the program loads from $400 upwards (your code is located in $400 in one version, isn't it?).

You can also have your code in page 1 if you have enough room for the stack space needed by the loading routines.

It is worth trying..

Re: TrackOric - android "something" for Oric

The idea is cool, but I doubt I could add support for it... :( I even doubt I could add support for joysticks... and not sure I can afford the space needed to tweak the disk code to support the Telestrat! Yeah, my free space is almost zero. And I mean less than 200 bytes. And I need most of it (each...

Re: TapOric - android TAP player for Oric

This is an extremely cool project! At last someone made it! Thanks indeed. What are the problems with tap2cd? In my experience the latest version is very reliable. If you have an Atmos, of course, and if your phone outputs the needed level. That seems to be the real issue, the maximum volume of the ...

Error Locator, Tape Doctor, Err Loc, EFL and Wrong Bits are amongst my favourite.

Just kidding :)

Load Vader is cool... XD

Re: The hobbit on disc!

You mean in the case that it used the load and save rom routines? No idea. I guess the only thing is the name of the saved file or if it saved several unnamed chunks to be loaded sequentially.

But IIRC The Hobbit uses custom routines, so patching the game itself is needed.

Re: The hobbit on disc!

I'm afraid The Hobbit uses custom saving and loading routines that work only with cassette.

And, even if it used the ROM calls it would be necessary to have some patched ROM in order to emulate that behavior, I think.

And change
JSR $CCFB ;Routine ROM print Atmos
RTS

With
jmp $ccfb

to scratch a few more cycles :)

Re: Convert a byte as hex string (to display on screen)

Indeed it is a nice piece of code! I never manage to make the correct comparisons or use of the decimal mode for these things. :) By the way you can also use a 16-byte table (4 bit value - ascii code) and even save a few more cycles. No need for comparisons nor additions. Not sure about total cycles...

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

My holidays are going pretty well. I have corrected a good number of hidden and hideous bugs and put more of the adventure inside the game. I've made more room so I can now breathe knowing I have a few bytes for new additions or tweaks, and almost 70% of the last episode is programmed and tested. Th...
