Re: Modern Software Packaging

Did not have time to have a look at the high resolution version yet, but I must say that, it being an impressive job, I miss the Defence-Force logo... :(

I had it on Skool Daze and Blake's7 at least, and it looked quite professional.

Re: Oricutron macOS 10.14: Unable to open roms

I understand you tried to clear the extended attributes with xattr -c and other combinations and none worked.

I know very little about MacOS but, did you simply try to put your sources in another file system, such as a USB pendrive with FAT? Maybe that would work, as no extended attributes exist ;)

Re: Cumana disk interface problem

+2A are recommended for Silicebit's microdisc clone, though that is intended to power the board and two FDDs, IIRC. Maybe the board and a kind of Gotek or HxC needs less. But 1A sounds too little for me, based on those recommendations. If you plan to power the oric too, better go for 3A. The Oric it...

Re: Cumana disk interface problem

If you are facing the usual problems with Microdisc units (Cumana is just a clone, I think, so it may well be), you can end up with a non-booting Oric with the symptoms you describe. You should have some activity when pressing the RESET button on the Cumana interface, but maybe just a RESET to the b...

Re: Development of Blake's 7 (was OASIS development)

Yep. Sad news... Also Jacqueline Pearce (the ineffable Supreme Commander Servalan) passed away on September 2018... :(

Peter Tuddenham, the voice of Zen, and David Jackson, Olag Gan, also passed away some time ago.

Re: Composite video mod?

I'd say that all of us use RGB to SCART, but if you have a nice mod to use composite, it would be great if you shared with us :).

An additional option is always welcome!

Re: Oric ROM wanted

You'd probably hang me, but I kept my original Oric-1 ROM in a drawer for years, and only recently lost it. No idea where on Earth it is.. This being said, there is a trick to be able to use an EPROM with a disk unit. It required some hardware doing, but nothing too difficult IIRC. Search a bit arou...

Re: You Suffered A Catastrophic Failure, Please Surrender Your Server

Thank you very much, Dbug, for your dedication to this community. It is amazing how everything failed... thousands of power failures and I only had once (many many years ago) a situation in which issuing an ls command dumped core :) I think I also lost the occasional unsaved changes or experimented ...

Re: 65c22

I'm sorry I completely suck at electronics, but a quick search gave this There is a major design difference between the W65C22S and all previous versions of the 6522 and 65C22. The IRQB pin on the W65C22S is a standard totem pole output. It is no longer open drain and cannot be wire OR'ed. And also ...

Re: AY music: PT3 player!

I have just downloaded and tested it and I am quite impressed!!!

At least a pro-tracker for our Oric which is compatible with Vortex... is this true?

I'll give a look at the size and CPU usage (which I guess will be quite high), but it is indeed a great job. And excelent news for our community.

Re: Up to date Oric-1/Atmos Schematic

You can do a google search and you'll find several scans. I am quite sure there was one here in DF, but I cannot find it. However, TomH linked a pretty good version here: https://regmedia.co.uk/2013/01/21/oric_4.jpg

Re: Oric-1 Repair

Remember the Oric is a bit picky when booting. Plug the PSU first, then the plug into the Oric (careful: do not plug it into the expansion port!). With some Orics it may need more than one attempt,

Some service modification improved the booting cycle, though, IIRC.
