Re: FloppyBuilder evolution

Regarding sector size, there's nothing that forces us to use the same number of sectors on all tracks.

It's perfectly possible to use 512 bytes per sectors on the boot track, and 256 bytes on the rest.

Re: Merging video output?

What are these DR/Q_Q boxes? The more I'm thinking about it, the more it seems similar to what is called "wake-up" state on the Atari ST: http://atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=68&t=9056 GLUE has internally a 2Mhz clock (period equivalent to one NOP) for the video state machine. Plus another 4Mhz cl...

Re: GlobalGameJam 2018

Ok, hopefully that works with ST2 as well. I've registered ST2 years ago, it was showing ST3 Unregistered because Linux Mint auto-installed that one and I did not find an easy way to revert back to ST2 - that was not the highest priority thing to solve - And yes, I dislike ST3, in particular, I did ...

Re: GlobalGameJam 2018

Which hotkeys in particular?

The only things I missed was how to switch between Build and Run, I asked during the video if anyone knew how to bind two different keys for the different actions, but there was no answer.

Re: GlobalGameJam 2018

Well, on a two days situation, you can't afford to do something with large scale, so basically you have to find THE game mechanics you need to implement to have the actual game working, that is flexible enough to accommodate design changes when conditions evolve during the event. So in this particul...

Re: GlobalGameJam 2018

Hi, yeah, I gave up for this year, but I spent a bit of time on adding time markers on the different sections: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uwtwoZbABg I had the last hours with refraining to burp loudly while fighting an headache. But watching the video, I realize the whole place was quite noisy...

Re: GlobalGameJam 2018

Some update regarding the game jam. I *may* be streaming the creation of the game on Twitch, but ideally I'd like the stream to be saved so people can check it later instead of just live. The problem being that I've no idea how to do that (first time I attempt this type of thing). Now, get your expe...

GlobalGameJam 2018

(I posted that on the Facebook Oric page, but does not hurt to post that here as well!) In case some of you are interested, the Global Game Jam 2018 is coming soon (January 26 - 28, 2018). These events are the perfect opportunity to try coding small games during a week-end, even if it's BASIC on a 3...

For what I saw, the components are: SN74LS09N - Quad 2-input positive-AND gates with open collector outputs 14-PDIP 0 to 70 SN74LS74AN - Dual D-type pos.-edge-triggered flip-flops with preset and clear 14-PDIP 0 to 70 T74LS00BI - Quad 2-Input NAND Gate S6551P - Async Communications Interface Adapter...

Midi/Joystick interface?

Hi, a few (many) years ago, I was sent a small piece of hardware by Twilighte, which I believe is a midi interface, but since there's only one DIN connector and I never got the software for it, ultimately I've no idea how to use it. I took a bunch of photos, hopefully one of you could tell me: - Wha...

Re: Merging video output?

So, I was doing some computations. The HIRES memory on the Oric is 8000 bytes large, and the very fastest code you can use to copy stuff is a giant unrolled loop of these: lda source,x ; 4 cycles, 3 bytes sta destination,x ; 5 cycles, 3 bytes That's 9 cycles per byte, so for 8000 bytes it's a total ...

Cool! Well done :)
I wonder if I can find it in Oslo, do you know which month/issue it is?
