Re: Modern Software Packaging

But nowadays all the options I found (DS, PSP, Wii and PS4 all have different cases, I think) share one problem for me that you seem to have solved: the internal shape to hold a disk. How did you do that? You may want me to prepare a new version of the cover, prepared for this type of cases... It's...

Re: Textmode Sideways Scroller

So, regarding your routines, there's rarely an "optimal way" of doing things, in your particular case, the killer is the "n*40" which the compiler will not optimize for you. What I suggest instead of for (n=26;n>27-maxheight;n--) { if (n>hgt) { poke(bufferstart+39+n*40,128); } else { poke(bufferstar...

Re: Modern Software Packaging

It's not really off topic, if you think about it: If we settle on some kind of common packaging, it would be nice if it could accommodate physical clues and bonus items as well :)

Re: Oric Kong converted in C, need beta test (and graphist !)

At one moment, when DBug wrote here (see his post) and told me that keyboard tempo was a bad thing, I changed the code in order to use peek(#208) instead of the key$ facility : bad idea. You were pressing a key, and you were falling from the building at the other side of the screen in fraction of a...

Re: Modern Software Packaging

I like how you managed to make it look good both in color & grayscale. The final version is supposed to be in color, just that I only had a B&W printer to do my tests. It was just a test, there need to have an actual layout, with safe areas for the place where the folding happen, as you said the Or...

Modern Software Packaging

Hi, for years, me and others have been releasing software for the Oric, mostly in emulator format, but now and then we've been releasing physical versions, complete with inlays and manuals, both for tape an floppy. One thing that always annoyed me was that there was no common packaging for this soft...

Re: Poly 1 Computer

Machines made for government contracts tend to have some quite powerful features, just look at the BBC, with some quite powerful basic, 2mhz cpu, and decent graphic modes.

I like the design of the machine, would fit just perfectly on a set of Space:1999!

Re: Gotek USB floppy emulator

No idea, but you may want to fix the post title, is it "gotel" or "gotek" ?

Re: Oric Kong converted in C, need beta test (and graphist !)

I agree, the door delay could be shorter. Something that would be nice, is to be able to stay half way on the ladders instead of going instantaneously up or down, also maybe the keyboard polling values could be changed so the auto-repeat immediately applies, that would make it more "arcady". General...

Re: Merging video output?

I'm still trying to come up with a "not too complicated" way of having both of best worlds: - Possibility to have independent Orics used together to remove Attribute Constraints - Possibility to have more shades of colors The idea of using the resistors to build color graduation, could that also wor...

Re: VIA "networking"

Loading the same program on all three machines Is a nice idea but now the issue remains to have each machine identify its role properly in the "ULA chain" so that it can output the proper part of the produced images. I guess this could also be done directly through the ROMs which would also dispens...

Re: Merging video output?

Actually, regarding the color mixing, somebody the other day asked about the MultiColoric card, maybe that could be a solution: Instead of doing complicated logic to decide how the color should be interpreted, just go through a programmable CLUT... I guess the only problem would be that with four Or...

Re: VIA "networking"

It will be very helpful if someone patch the standard Atmos ROM for Slave machines, so it executes automatically CLOAD"" after power-on. Meanwhile That's actually a very good idea! If the slaves have a patched ROM, it can even do things like default to black paper and ink, so nothing is merged in t...

Re: VIA "networking"

Thanks Symoon. I guess the master machine could load from disk stuff which is already in the right "novalight" format to send, but then I guess that would be huge and not fit in memory! I was discussing with Jede on IRC yesterday, maybe tome interesting alternative would be all these super cheap (5-...

Re: VIA "networking"

Cool :) Do you think it's possible to transfer from the master to all three slaves at the same time (for example for doing a parallel transfer of the common data) ? Regarding communication back, hard to say, but that would allow things like using one machine as a co-processor for example to compute ...
