Re: OricExos - making the impossible

I know a few who would hang you for this comment  I'm not saying that the Amiga has horrible sound, just that the non merged stereo is horrible, specially with a headset: There's a reason why pretty much every single Amiga game or music disk you can find on Youtube has been remastered with cor...

Re: OricExos - making the impossible

All 4 sound output are "as is" - standalone without mixing. The 4 speakers will be attached with wires and proper connectors to every board (next to the purple/white wires which connect the master reset button on the picture). If anyone has an idea for something better - now is the right time to sh...

Re: OricExos - making the impossible

Regarding the music, there are two known midi players, midipsg from Fabrice (but I could not find the sources), and another one from Wasky which replays the Game of Throne music and comes with the sources: https://github.com/DJChloe/got Spectrum coders have a bunch of converters as well (midi2ay, mi...

Re: Novalight - very fast tape loading

I assume you have checked already if any of the code of your loader happens to match sections of the ROM, in which case you could also do something like a generic "create" routine that copy snippets of code from ROM.

Re: Better code generation (for CC65)

That's actually a nice difference, specially in term of code size. Maybe everybody should try to rebuild their programs in -O3 and see if they notice any bugs, because there used to be some code generation errors, which is why it was not enabled by default, but if it works, that could be a good firs...

Re: OricExos - making the impossible

; extadr + bit 0 - ram/rom switch ; extadr + bit 1 - on/off pp buffer ; extadr + bit 2 - in/out pp buffer ; extadr + bit 3 - mixer switch Important is the WRITE operation, the value in register A doesn't matter (can be any). The change is immediate and can be done at any time - simply the mixer has...

Re: OricExos - making the impossible

For the audio - it's OK, both options are easy but what type of connectors do you need, so I can prepare them? The ideal would just be a standard stereo female headphone jack, can easily connect that to my videocapture card or audio input on my speakers. I think the pseudo-code formulas to describe...

Maybe it should just be put in a transparent case, with some blinking things :)

Nice info about Telestrat and Microdisc connectors:

So, the hand-written notes on your pictures are confirmed. :)
That's borderline criminal...
I wonder how many telestrats and microdiscs got destroyed because of that, why did they use the same connector???

Re: OricExos - making the impossible

Awesome :)

So, two questions:
- What did you finally came up with for the soundchips: Mono, Stereo (and if Stereo, how is it split?)
- What are the video mixing algorithms you have implemented

So basically I can start thinking about what I can do :D

Re: Microdisc connectors

I'm actually having the same (similar) issue. I do have have a Master Microdisc, a Slave Microdisc, and a HxC floppy emulator. My old Oric Microdisc PSU is scary, heavy, and doing some zzzzzzzzz noise, so I'd like to replace by something modern and compact that could power up to 4 drives, and the Or...

Re: A new well-known compiler

I will not answer to all the comments, but I want to start by two things: - I don't think Opt65 has anything to do with CC65, it's something written by a C64 guy many years ago, that's why it's old style C. And yes, if we could get that thing to work (and play nice with auto-modified code, etc...) i...

Re: IOUG

I guess the options are to blur such information - how big a job would that be? I guess there are two issues: - This require some PDF editing tool with the ability to modify / clear the content. - One need to know what exactly should be moved: If we speak of phone numbers and addresses, only for in...

Re: OSDK bugs

By the way, are there now light weight bug/issue tracking systems which could be used for the OSDK? I agree that a full fledged system would be overkill but on the other hand, having to send emails instead of going to a well know web page with proper editing/linking/referencing tools also reduces m...
