Re: Merging video output?

I'm still trying to come up with a "not too complicated" way of having both of best worlds: - Possibility to have independent Orics used together to remove Attribute Constraints - Possibility to have more shades of colors The idea of using the resistors to build color graduation, could that also wor...

Re: VIA "networking"

Loading the same program on all three machines Is a nice idea but now the issue remains to have each machine identify its role properly in the "ULA chain" so that it can output the proper part of the produced images. I guess this could also be done directly through the ROMs which would also dispens...

Re: Merging video output?

Actually, regarding the color mixing, somebody the other day asked about the MultiColoric card, maybe that could be a solution: Instead of doing complicated logic to decide how the color should be interpreted, just go through a programmable CLUT... I guess the only problem would be that with four Or...

Re: VIA "networking"

It will be very helpful if someone patch the standard Atmos ROM for Slave machines, so it executes automatically CLOAD"" after power-on. Meanwhile That's actually a very good idea! If the slaves have a patched ROM, it can even do things like default to black paper and ink, so nothing is merged in t...

Re: VIA "networking"

Thanks Symoon. I guess the master machine could load from disk stuff which is already in the right "novalight" format to send, but then I guess that would be huge and not fit in memory! I was discussing with Jede on IRC yesterday, maybe tome interesting alternative would be all these super cheap (5-...

Re: VIA "networking"

Cool :) Do you think it's possible to transfer from the master to all three slaves at the same time (for example for doing a parallel transfer of the common data) ? Regarding communication back, hard to say, but that would allow things like using one machine as a co-processor for example to compute ...

VIA "networking"

I was thinking about the communication between multiple Oric, and when looking at what we had already in the machine, I checked the VIA 6522 datasheets (http://archive.6502.org/datasheets/mos_6522_preliminary_nov_1977.pdf) and in particular the first part of the document left me thinking: The MCS652...

Re: California Devices Inc and the HCS10017

I guess that anyone who tried to make a device for the Oric that connects on the expansion port can testify about how "reliably" the hardware behaves :)

Re: Merging video output?

- We also would like to limit attribute constraints (so we can have six pixels of different color side by side on the same byte, for example) That's probably the most hard to achieve from your list ... The ULA as it stands cannot be convinced to do that, and I'm struggling to think how two ULAs cou...

You guys are totally crazy. And I love it!
Great :)

Now, you are not excluded in giving your opinion on what you think would be desirable features - in the hypothetical situation where you would support the system -, if only for a small funny game/tech demo ?

Re: Merging video output?

Done! It work always now! Replaced button with Arduino (to avoid ringing) and following particular power-on sequence Orics start synchronized. That's super cool :D Now regarding the color mixing, there are multiple things to consider: - We probably still want normal Oric software to run a...

Re: Messages Outbox Troubles

As long as they are direct messages.
The forum is not able to send emails, that's why we had all these problems with registering, could not find why it happened (the server itself is sending me cron notifications when there's a problem, so I know that works at the system level)

Any idea about why it's not stable enough?

Re: re cumulus

As I recall the branch issue was just that - your work could've been done on another branch rather than an entirely separate, non-visible repo. But okay, your choice to prosecute your time however you wish. Its just that, at the time, you weren't the only one investigating the Cumulus firmware, and...

Re: re cumulus

There are a bunch of issues: - The code itself is not difficult to understand and modify, but the UI code is impacting the performance of the actual cumulus, so things like showing the track or sector number in real time actually does impact loading time - The tools required to modify and rebuild th...
