Re: Clock Signal — an Oric emulator for macOS and Linux

BTW, WOZ format is good thing too, I've downloaded tons of images but I didn't find an actual converter DSK->WOZ, do you have such one? It would be perfect to have sources so I can compile and use it under Linux/Windows/macOS. I am intrigued, why do you want to convert from DSK to WOZ if the emulat...

Re: Oric related links of interest

Another update: the MESS link needs to be transformed int MAME since MESS was incorporated into MAME back in 2015 (Oops!). Mame is located at http://mamedev.org, I do not know if there is an SSL https version since my browser is super slow and takes millions of years to try to load the https version...

Re: HIRES ghost line ?

What an interesting coincidence that this space is exactly one text mode line long. I wonder if this has to do with how the video scanning addresses are generated by the ULA. Do mi-screen mode changes modify the behavior of the address generation? That is, do HIRES and TEXT addresses continue to inc...

Re: IDEs, text editors and extensions used for cross development?

I use Notepad++, so cannot help here. No worries, though I will pray for your soul since I consider Notepad++ to be pure torture. ;) But a quick Google search came up with this https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=OlivierGuinartMSFT.Merlin32LanguageService Is that what you wanted for...

IDEs, text editors and extensions used for cross development?

Hello kitties, I recently got back into Oric development (with the OSDK) and noticed that there is 6502 assembly syntax coloring for Notepad++, however not being a fan of Notepad++ I wondered if there were other IDEs or editors which offered extensions usable for Oric development? As IDEs/editors I ...

Re: Games like Frelon

This answer is not going to be very useful but the only Oric game I can recall playing back in the day is a text-mode F1 game written in BASIC which scrolled vertically line by line (no pseudo 3D rasters back then :D). It was quite far from Frelon it seems. ;) But I would definitely be interested to...

Re: Horizontal HIRES and Text scrolling code needed.

What I want to do right now is just scroll the top 64 lines of a HIRES screen, plain ol' demo style.. actually I've changed up the 'requirements' a bit too and really its just about applying any kind of effects of a 240x64 line of graphics, which serve as the header of a text-file that fills the re...

Re: 6502 flags C, N, Z, V and tests

I presume this is already known but for completion sake, CPU status flags can be manipulated indirectly using the PLP instruction: Set A to the desired flag values. Push A on the stack with PHA. Execute PLP, this will set the status flags to the value just stored on the stack. If speed is not a conc...

Re: Clock Signal — an Oric emulator for macOS and Linux

It's very brute-force, and computation costs in principle grow exponentially with the number of unknown selections — supposing it were four potential paging schemes plus, separately, absence or presence of a disk drive (or something), that'd be eight MSXs to run simultaneously. Etc. The advantage i...

Re: Clock Signal — an Oric emulator for macOS and Linux

* doesn't affect the Oric. But, essentially, nowadays if you insert a piece of media for which the correct machine or hardware configuration cannot be determined a priori, the proper machine and configuration will be found empirically. E.g. if you provide a 16kb file with a .bin extension and the e...

Re: OSDK 1.11

- For the git users, there's already a OSDK github depot, I think it was Godzil maintaining it, you can totally synchronize all of you together I did look at it a few weeks ago but it has been abandoned since 2011 and is lagging quite behind the current version. The repository I created has the ver...

Re: OSDK 1.11

NekoNoNiaow has given some good advice here - only thing I would add is that the whole 'staging' philosophy, which you probably adopted from years of SVN use, is not really a thing in git... rather you'd use a local branch, something like "development-staging" (or whatever, actually doesn't need to...

Re: JOric

After reflexion I came to the conclusion that Oric and/or Tangerine probably had a valid license from Microsoft (MS). After all, the very reason for the existence of this easter egg was to detect potential license violations after Commodore played dirty (but legally) with the license they obtained f...

Re: OSDK 1.11

Regarding the questions: - popt65 is not in use, mostly because it has some bugs that generated invalid code in a few situations, but if it was working, that would be a nice tool to provide a second pass optimization, not only for C but also for assemblers (a bit like the "opt o+" parameter in Devp...
