Re: OType

Thanks DBug for the video! The graphics and the smoothness of the scrolling are indeed astounding, I tried hard to catch any hint of an attribute clash but could not see any. I am in awe alongside everyone since the game looks technically way above commercial grade quality of Oric games back in the ...

Re: Microdisc in ebay

I'm lusting for it. All you other guys can sod off! Its mine, I tell you! :). Even though I have Cumulus drives and a working Cumana-based drive, I still want an original micro disc for my collection. (For me it'd be double useful, since I have an Amstrad now and could use the 3" disc collection fo...

Re: oric advanced user guide is still available

It looks like the author, Leycester Whewell, has a Linked In profile and DBug seems to already be connected with him so I guess it is possible to ask if he is willing (or can) distribute digital versions of his book. ;)

Re: HIRESMAN

Is there a repository of Twilighte's tools in addition (I suppose) to his website?
Seems he was quite prolific it would certainly be useful to have them available from a central location, maybe a page in the defence force wiki?

In which ways are they Twilighte oriented?
Are they are geared toward AIC or stuff like that?

Re: HIRES ghost line ?

There are also all the "invert" bytes values that could be used... But I mean, technically it can be achived, but for a human brain this seems a bit complicated ;) To anyone willing to dig this subject, another way to begin with could be checking existing known HIRES pictures, and see if they alrea...

Re: IDEs, text editors and extensions used for cross development?

I published yesterday a xa65 highlighting extension for Visual code (name : osdk). It did it 3 months ago. Of course, the extension can be improved a lot. Source code is available under github https://github.com/oric-software/osdkVsExtension Nice, it does indeed show in the VS Code extension list. ...

Re: HIRES ghost line ?

I like the idea of self-executing image files on Oric! But not just using 40bytes .. what about putting it all in the images too .. ;) Yep, having data that can be both drawing and executable code is quite a challenge, but could be done? ;) Well, just put these two tables side by side and compare. ...

Re: Clock Signal — an Oric emulator for macOS and Linux

The case is simple: I have already DSK image with some DOS3.3/8D-DOS software and this software needs to write back to the same image something in non-standard format (for instance a nibbelized bit stream but with custom address and data markers, or with custom number of sectors), so I need image f...

Re: Clock Signal — an Oric emulator for macOS and Linux

BTW, WOZ format is good thing too, I've downloaded tons of images but I didn't find an actual converter DSK->WOZ, do you have such one? It would be perfect to have sources so I can compile and use it under Linux/Windows/macOS. I am intrigued, why do you want to convert from DSK to WOZ if the emulat...

Re: Oric related links of interest

Another update: the MESS link needs to be transformed int MAME since MESS was incorporated into MAME back in 2015 (Oops!). Mame is located at http://mamedev.org, I do not know if there is an SSL https version since my browser is super slow and takes millions of years to try to load the https version...

Re: HIRES ghost line ?

What an interesting coincidence that this space is exactly one text mode line long. I wonder if this has to do with how the video scanning addresses are generated by the ULA. Do mi-screen mode changes modify the behavior of the address generation? That is, do HIRES and TEXT addresses continue to inc...

Re: IDEs, text editors and extensions used for cross development?

I use Notepad++, so cannot help here. No worries, though I will pray for your soul since I consider Notepad++ to be pure torture. ;) But a quick Google search came up with this https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=OlivierGuinartMSFT.Merlin32LanguageService Is that what you wanted for...

IDEs, text editors and extensions used for cross development?

Hello kitties, I recently got back into Oric development (with the OSDK) and noticed that there is 6502 assembly syntax coloring for Notepad++, however not being a fan of Notepad++ I wondered if there were other IDEs or editors which offered extensions usable for Oric development? As IDEs/editors I ...

Re: Games like Frelon

This answer is not going to be very useful but the only Oric game I can recall playing back in the day is a text-mode F1 game written in BASIC which scrolled vertically line by line (no pseudo 3D rasters back then :D). It was quite far from Frelon it seems. ;) But I would definitely be interested to...
