Re: Oric cleaning :)
Hmmm Ok didn't thought as "discolouration" as in loosing colour, misread there. Though if the plastic really get discoloured (the pigment loose their colour) the plastic will whiten, don't really see what could be done against that, there is no magic spray/process that could give its origi...

Re: Oric cleaning :)
My last Atmos was quite discoloured (case bottom and red keys), and this magic spray made everything back to its original glory. You can give the retrobright method a try if you want to make yellowed plastics white again, but this process is not everlasting and you'll have to repeat it after 2-3 ye...

Re: Blue Oric 1
I’m surprised I never posted that here: DB3D2566-9A16-4A5E-B012-0E998920A9D8.jpeg That's the mother board of the Tandata TD1616 that I got years ago now. I suspect this model to be older than the TD1000 Silicium.org have. The TD1000 clearly have support for the Rockwell 6501 (a microcontroller versi...

Re: Atmos excessive buzzing from speaker
My hears are working fine, thanks for the concern. Easy, no Oric I have here have a relay making any audible noises, and can't also be picked by a microphone put just on top of the chip. (and they are working) I've also recorded directly from the HP the noise both from a 1 and an Atmos, and the &quo...

Re: New Oric Project. The OriClone-1
The idea for changing the connector is mostly to make sure you don't put a usual 9v supply on the machine. And that's probably a good idea, the 7905/7805 at least allow to "blow" as a fuse if you put something wrong on the barrel jack (like inverted polarity or really wrong voltage. Compl...

Re: Atmos excessive buzzing from speaker
Orices are well known to chant the activity on the Data/Address bus. If you look at PCB, you will see that the audio out track of the AY-3-8910 is crossing both data and address bus. As it is before the amplification stage, the noise ig get from these is amplified, and ending in the main HP noises. ...

Re: New Oric Project. The OriClone-1
Using the 7905 was a mistake, especially because using a 7805 would have not created any issue. I really think that the choice of the 7905 was more for $$ than anything else Incorrect, at least, according to official answers and data. :) The reason for the choice of 7905 over the 7805 was the lower...

Re: Expansion port for external ROM and /ROMDIS line
And I got is fooled again. The output from the 6522 and ETL do not match.
NMOS:
Vih = +2.4 to 5V
Vil = -0.3V to 0.4V
Voh = 2.4V
Vol = 0.4V
(Vih = Input High, Vil = Input Low, Voh = Output High, Vol = Output low)
Can't find the proper transition voltage as it is not said in the datasheet.

Re: Expansion port for external ROM and /ROMDIS line
One important point, the original 6522 is NMOS and don't work well with modern signal level. 3.3V for example will not work with some of them (I got caught by that on one of my project) : Chart-IC-Voltage-Switching-Levels-Grpah.png The minimum is the theorical minimum, so even a chip supposed to giv...

Re: ULA versions
What about the ones with just two lines PHILIPPINES HCS10017 without any other batch information, do we know where they come from, and if they actually work? Probably remarked by some chinese? Where does these come from? Are they working? Could you also add to my spreadsheet? (even if not tested ag...

Re: New Oric Project. The OriClone-1
Hello forum! Firstly, I'm newly joined up here and haven't messaged before so I apologise in advance for any fluff-ups I may make. Now, I've been playing around with Oric's since I was a nipper just last week decided to make myself a new one based roughly on Manoel Trapier's excellent schematic. Ha...

Re: Oric logo and trademark
they also have registered logo for Jet Set Radio and Manic Miner which still clearly owned by its author and editor. You mean "Jet Set Willy" I guess. If it's Jet Set Radio, that would be cool, because then we could unleash the wrath of Sega on them :) :oops: :oops: :oops: :oops: :oops: :...

Re: Oric logo and trademark
The last link is u fortunately related. Same people behind. Lots of logos trademarked, sorry but that’s concerning. I have no confidence in Paul Andrews being “better” than his friends of the ZX Vega and the C64 mini scams. Oh and they just registered these logo (end of 2018) so they are not about t...

Oric logo and trademark
Does anyone in the Oric community is aware of that: https://trademarks.ipo.gov.uk/ipo-tmcase/page/Results/1/UK00003306145 Registered by Paul Andrews under one of his company (Andrews UK Limited) but probably for his other company Retrogames LTD: https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/09745704 Co...

Re: Oric-1 Repair
1) Powered it with a totally inappropriate adapter (AC output, wrong polarity, 12V or even higher etc). The only thing that may die here is the 7905 and yet; they are quite robust. Never manage to kill one even with reverse polarity. The second point is more likely (the power jack in the ext connec...
