Re: Pravetz 8D: loading tapes?

Next is the ROM - and here is difference for sure exactly in the tape related code (not counting the obvious changes in the message strings and character definitions)! It starts at #E4B6:Oric-8D-ROM-diff.jpg Here are bytes: Oric Atmos: E4B6 8e b1 02 a2 09 20 c9 e6 9d a7 02 ca d0 f7 20 c9 e6 f0 0a e...

Re: Pravetz 8D: loading tapes?

Thanks ISS for such a detailed reply! So apprently, I won't have to buy another Pravetz!
That's too bad, really. But that explains maybe why there was a specific need/design for a disk drive.

I'll try and check if it could be a software thing (If it's hardware... I'm ignorant ;) )

Re: Pravetz 8D: loading tapes?

Ok, CSAVE works fine, but I can't load again what was saved.

I opend the case and saw nothing special except a RAM chip that was badly inserted. Fixed that; no change.

Will post photos later, if needed.

Pravetz 8D: loading tapes?

Hi, I bought years ago a Pravetz 8D. At the time, I tried to load tapes and it didn't seem to work. Tried again today, to see if Novalight would work on it, but same result: zero loading, any source, standard format, tried two players, various sound volume... All my other Orics load nicely anything....

Re: INSERT MASTER DISC IN DRIVE A

Sorry, not much time for this thread at the moment, but: maybe it should be changed at several places on the disk? From vague memories, there are banks, as well as INIT command (building a new disk), that might duplicate some code. Also, you can try downloading Sedoric 4 and see if you can find how ...

Re: Oric DSK Manager

Here is the info which describes what PATCH.001 is and how to create it. The info is extracted from "SEDORIC 3.0 à NU". patch-001.pdf To create file is used: COPYM"P?"TO"PATCH.001" which merges the 3 parts. Unfortunately, I don't know more about Sedoric internals. Maybe @Symoon can help more (or an...

6502 flags C, N, Z, V and tests

In my recent works, not being comfortable with assembler, I had to look for many information sites. One thing I never found and thought it was missing, was a summary of the flags that could be set by the user, and tested. In the end, only the Carry flag can be fully operated and tested with specific...

Re: Pseudo 3D Starfield

Anyone ever found something about this?
Theres was a great starfield at the beginning of Mercenary, which existed on C64 and many other machines. I suppose we could find the code.

Also, PATCH.001 is a merged file (3 files in it).

Re: INSERT MASTER DISC IN DRIVE A

The patch is extensively described in Sedoric à Nu page 475-477. Patched version is available on Oric.org: https://www.oric.org/index.php?page=software&fille=detail&num_log=741 BTW I found back an "optimized" version I made long ago. I'm copying it here for you to check if it sounds OK to you... IIR...

Re: INSERT MASTER DISC IN DRIVE A

I can't recall much about Sedoric 4 as Michel did most of the coding work, I think it uses one more bank so less room on disk I suppose. About Tap2dsk, can't tell you much... Maybe a minimal Sedoric designed to be better than slave disks that do require master disks, but not to have the full OS? (ju...

Re: INSERT MASTER DISC IN DRIVE A

Just use Sedoric 3 or 4  Well, on Sedoric 3, André included two "patches", one of them (can't recall which one) stops this request. Look for file like PATCH001 and PATCH002, I think it's the 1st one you have to launch. Don't ask me why André didn't include those patches by default in Sedori...

Re: new with oric atmos

Yes it sounds like the end of the WAV file is not played. The screen is loaded completely because the WAV carries on (there's a program after), but the end of the program is not played. Get TAP2WAV from here, and use -a and -11 switches, it should fix the problem: https://sourceforge.net/projects/e...

Re: Experimental very fast tape loading

Thanks Chema.

Anyone willing to test, here's still the same HIRES picture.
Do HIRES first !

One has the loader at standard speed, the other at F16 speed. I'm interested to know if both work for all!
Thanks :)

Re: Oric-1 16k memory management

Just noticed the test is still present in the 1.1 ROM, too, writing in #500 and #4500. That means a ROM 1.1 could work on a 16K Oric-1; retro-compatibility? Maybe that's also the reason why some think there could have been 16K Atmos... BTW, it's fun to see Fabrice Broche didn't seem to fully underst...
