Re: VIA "networking"

At one point I thought about adding, during the system interrupt, a listen to the VIA to see if something happened on the tape port, and if so, then stop and wait for a short specific synchro code (like 3 of 4 bits). If matching, then a program is about to begin => CLOAD. If not, it was just noise, ...

Re: VIA "networking"

I guess the master machine could load from disk stuff which is already in the right "novalight" format to send, but then I guess that would be huge and not fit in memory! Yes, and it would also require a perfect 44kHz WAV player ;) Basically we could send or receive data to the Oric directly from t...

Re: VIA "networking"

Do you think it's possible to transfer from the master to all three slaves at the same time (for example for doing a parallel transfer of the common data) ? This could be easily done with the tape port (one Oric "saving", the others loading), but I'm not sure this is what you're looking for - stand...

Re: Extension Multicoloric?

Hi Peacer,
I think Jede tried to build it, but I seem to recall it had many miskates or lack of details so I'm not sure he managed to make it work.
Jede will tell you better than I do when he comes around.

Re: California Devices Inc and the HCS10017

A bit late to the party, but WOW, what an amazing document!
Far beyond my understanding and abilities, but so well detailed that it still could be a source of information for non-hardware guys like me.

Congratulations Mike, and to all those involved.

Re: ORIC SDCARD

Very nice, well done! In theory, if you extended your system to also have a connector that plugs on the expansion bus, then you could enable the overlay to make a copy of the rom and patch it in ram. That certainly would be the perfection. Specific ROM is always a problem IMHO: casual users that jus...

Re: Oric Atmos Boot-Up Query

(not sure the question was for me but anyway ;) ) always got the "clean" boot screen with various PSU, even with disk drive IIRC. I'm currently digging my emails, because I now recall the Euphoric issue: with Ram patterns 0 and 1, when double-clicking on a TAP file to load it automatically, Euphoric...

Re: Oric Atmos Boot-Up Query

On my very 1st Oric-1, I always have this nice and clean boot screen:

Screen88.gif (1.65 KiB) Viewed 956 times
... And never any character after "Ready".
But on most of my other machines, I get random garbage - and the random character.

Re: Oric Atmos Boot-Up Query

on boot up the Atmos has a random character where the cursor would be and the cursor is one character to the right - so it is printing one random character. Does anyone have any idea what that could be caused by? I also have this "feature" on several Atmos. I can't remember exactly but I think it i...

Re: Pravetz 8D: loading tapes?

Thanks guys. Luckily the computer was 100% backed up (on another similar one), the hard drive was backed up something like 4 weeks before and I hadn't stored any recent work on it, just downloads and other. Only the camera SD card was backed up in October... I wasn't so lucky with all the work I did...

Re: Pravetz 8D: loading tapes?

Sorry for the long silence, I had taken pictures but got my camera stolen, along with a computer and an external hard drive (and more). Most was backed up luckily, except the photos for the last 6 months. At the moment I'm still busy sorting things out, will be back more active when they get back to...

Re: Twilighte's IM music

Sorry for being away lately, dealing with real life problems. On tape-based experiences, IIRC some of my computers didn't like Zip and Zap for instance: it seemed to load fine but when starting a game it began crashing. I noticed that while testing Novalight, but I double-checked and it also happene...

Re: Experimental very fast tape loading

Now, going back to validation, it might be possible to add some form of validation if you have a few cycles and bytes to spare here or there. But this said, I agree that the priority should be to get this working efficiently on as many machines as possible. Once that is done, maybe there will still...
