...Also ,somebody know why in Cumulus is Flash EEprom 256, not normal eprom like 27c64 ? Rom for microdisc is 8 KB. So what about rest?
It's more handy for updating, you don't need to erase the software with an UV lamp to re-write. I suppose that the EEPROM contains also the update microprogram.

Re: Transformer/ power supply

I am not agree with you Godzil, indeed, we can use a rectifier for each regulator, that will make a schematic respectful of electronic theory, but sometimes, when the manufacturers want to make a low cost device, they use the middle point of the transformer, who is not oscillating despite the appear...

Re: Transformer/ power supply

As I can see on the picture the transformer is a classic one with two coils connected in serial mode and the output is in the same configuration, the middle output connection is used for a symetric rectifier, then I suppose that the transformer gives the same voltage in the output (for ex 2x 9v).......

Re: Transformer/ power supply

Maybe a component of the interface that spends too much energy ?
You can check it by touching the heating surface of the component.

Re: Transformer/ power supply

3,8v in place of 5v it is too low. At least we need around 4.8v.

Re: Transformer/ power supply

You can disconnect the 2200uf condenser and check that the 12V regulator is switched on again, we can verify if the chemical condenser is too old. Very important: when the load is connected to the regulators, the cooler is required, (the metal plate screwed behind the regulator with the sticky therm...

Re: Transformer/ power supply

It will be intresting to know where the voltage is down, an electric shock may destroy the varistance, a fuse-componant, or the input coil, you can test the last one with an ohmmeter with the power off, switch on, and test the output coil with a voltmeter, and finally the output regulator voltage. I...

Re: MMC-ORIC

Hello everyone, I finished the experimental SDcard reader, in the video below, I show the way to find the place where the game is stored in the MicroSD, with a BASIC program. It is not yet subtitled. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x57qwr4_lecteur-de-carte-microsd-erebus-pour-oric_tech Later, I'll ...

Re: EEPROM (or flash) replacement for Oric-1 ROM?

It could be interesting to use the w27C512 45z, this memory is EEPROM (no uv eraser required) . This one is four time too big but Oric Basic could be stored in the last fourth (pin1 is A15 to VCC ), but the romdis input will not work if a drive is connected.

Good luck Godzil. :D
