Re: Oric 1 and Atmos - repair help needed

Good luck! I thought the 6502 was one of the more robust chips in old computers. It tends to be RAM, ROM, VIA and all sorts of other chips that break down before the CPU does (in particular in two different computers) but one never knows before you have tested and tried to replace it.

Re: Next Cumulus batch

Me too, checking back here every now and then. Hopefully I can get my Oric-1 fixed before there is a Cumulus ready to buy.

Re: Video output without SCART/RGB

Old Orics on old TV sets, new FPGA implementations of Oric on new TV sets?

(with the reservation I'm not updated whether there are any good FPGA implementations, but eventually there ought to be if the interest is there)

Re: Cumulus Preorder Thread

I answered the survey, mostly to express that I'm still interested in buy two Cumulii for me and my friend. And I who don't even own a fully working Oric yet (still the one with keyboard issue, but my friend will help me replace the PSG any day now).

Re: Keyboard partial failure

I haven't measured the AY temperature yet, but I will check that as well as the physics around the area. My friend who helped me desolder (heat gun) the 6522 has a bunch of suitable AY chips too, so desoldering that one would be doable. I'll let you know how I proceed.

Re: Keyboard partial failure

As I am an average 6502 programmer and have access to both EPROM programmer and chips, I suppose I could both try to burn some existing diagnostic ROM and write my own specific diagnostic, that would somehow continuously output keyboard data without waiting in a polling loop. I probably should start...

Re:

Five years later, and these are the steps I have taken without success: 1. I swapped keyboard with another, working Oric-1. It made no difference to this machine, and as far as I can remember the other Oric worked with the keyboard from this one. 2. Yesterday I got help to desolder the 6522, put in ...

But my very first attempt last year the machine was "new" from its box and had not been used for a year or even more. Perhaps the 4051 is having intermittent faults, or actually the problem is with the 6522 since the key is echoed on screen right before input freezes. I will have to check ...

Re: Cumulus Preorder Thread

Long time no see (four years or so) but I'd like to place a preorder for 2 units of the Cumulus. (EDIT: Done)

A similar site is www.bbcdocs.com for the Acorn Atom, BBC/Master, Electron and some Archimedes/Risc PC stuff. Perhaps nothing related to generic 6502 programming that Oric people could take advantage of, but one more example of how docs can be sorted into categories.

Perhaps Brana wants to run it on an older PC with MS-DOS, while Oricutron runs in newer Windows?

Besides 90% probably are link spammers, most links leading to sites marketing various drugs, casinos or sex related services. If you are so inclined, you could browse through those and remove seemingly nonsense users in order to not have inflated membership numbers.

Haha, the ugly timetables were before the volcano. I figured if I take a morning flight (about 8 AM or so), I might make it to Bletchey at 13:30 or a little later. That is not entirely bad, although I wouldn't mind an 5 AM flight to London.

I planned to go, but none of my local friends is interested to follow. Besides the flight timetables in combination with transfers look pretty ugly so in order to get something out of it, I would have to leave on Friday afternoon, early evening making an extended weekend out of it. I suppose it stil...
