Re: Pravetz 8D: loading tapes?

No hurry, take your time. :) Else the chip 1ЛБ00ШМ is equal to 74LS00 and it's on your PCB because you have ROM split in 2x8k PROMs (2x7864) by me it's only one PROM and the 74LS00 is not needed. I'll try to make my board as yours with the same PROMs and will check how tape loading is working. When ...

Re: Pravetz 8D: loading tapes?

Very interesting exemplar! I think it's one from the latest produced - they were without RF modulator and your's is without the PAL encoder chips. Else nothing suspicious in the hardware.
Can you only check the resistor matrix (the red rectangle) if it has "10k" label?

Re: Pravetz 8D: loading tapes?

...This was fixed in a later ROM 1.1 version... ... and this shows exactly the moment when Pravetz was stolen! :D Here is how the analog part looks by me: P8D.jpg An easy test can be if the ROM is on socket to change it with normal Atmos ROM and check how loading works. I'll do this test asap and w...

Re: Pravetz 8D: loading tapes?

Hi, Symoon, Is there a specific tape format for the Pravetz? Definitely there should be NO difference in tape data format. From what I remember Pravetz-8D was 'famous' with its bad tape input - permanent 'ERROR FOUND'. And when I found the Oric resources on the web around 2010, I was really s...

Re: INSERT MASTER DISC IN DRIVE A

Well, attached you can find archive with: - 'sedoric3.h' - patched as per PATCH.001, only chunk 1 and 2 are changed, because 3 is not necessary IMO. Use this file to replace in OSDK - public/pc/tools/osdk/main/tap2dsk/sources/sedoric3.h and rebuild tap2dsk tool. You can check differences with any co...

Re: Oric DSK Manager

Hello, overCLK! Great utility. I've tested the github version with your last fix and there is no error message. But when extracting the PATCH.001 file the result is 268 bytes which contain data only for the 1-st part (chunk) of 3 total. PATCH.001.png Here is the info which describes what PATCH.001 i...

Re: INSERT MASTER DISC IN DRIVE A

Attached is Sedoric 3.006 + patches. I don't remember where from I've got the file, but it seams to be very OK :). It contains PATCHHELP.001 and PATCHHELP.002 which expain the purpose of the patches and the addresses where they are applied - type the name to run it - it will display the info ot the ...

Re: Clock Signal — an Oric emulator for macOS and Linux

Great work, ThomH! I'm deeply impressed by your DISK][ emulation (for both - Apple][ and 8DOS). It helped me already to rescue (partially, because of really bad floppy disks ) some antique software and now I can "close the case" which waited ~15 years :). Thanks! I'm waiting for some "developer...

The answer is in old posts.
Try the short BASIC program there, it's fun ;).

Re: 8DOS: overlay RAM control?

Yes, exactly after 00:A the counter hides, blinking cursor is restored and you are in BASIC. BTW, this version (and in particular 130.dsk image) freezes in real hardware too in the same way! How are working other versions (i.e. 100.dsk, 210.dsk and 231.dsk)? And two questions about CLKSIGNAL: where ...

Great videos, Dbug!
Off-topic: I'm curious what is the red/black "thing" sitting on the shelf with the small label "....-3DX"?
EDIT: I cut the "thing" from picture and tried google image search with string 3dx and the result is "MicroScribe 3DX Desktop Digitizer". Nice toy indeed! :)

Re: FastBoot/FastLoad on Pravetz 8D/Disk II

@ThomH: Yep, you are right - there is no physical interleaving on real disks too. Else bringing the old DISK][ back to life is almost done I'll post pictures/video of the result soon. :) I've created small utility for calibration of the rotation speed. It's based on old utility for Apple ][ which I ...

Re: Oric Explorer v2.0 is up for adoption!!!

Great news about resurrecting OricExplorer! Actually, I was one of the few lucky to download sources when they were available on the main site. So I have since long time sources of both versions: Screenshot_20180508_163336.png Maybe you have something which is more recent. Else about the portability...

Re: Oric-1 16k memory management

Geoff Phillips says in his book : 1.4 Differences between machines From the point of view of hardware, there are very few differences between machines. There are two major categories: Your Oric is either a 16K or a 48K machine. Your Oric is either version 1.0 (i.e., the ORIC-1) or 1.1 (i.e., the ORI...

Re: Experimental very fast tape loading

Some of my Orics have zener diodes at the input of the OpAmplifier. The idea is to limit the input amplitude of the signal (also good for protection) but this can change the required volume level. If you can open your Orics and take pictures on the analog part (on left side of the ULA) and note whic...
