Re: RIP Ian Sinclair

Aww man, there goes a hero. I'll never forget he was one of the first names of software I ever learned.

Re: ORIC SDCARD

Really nice! One thing I don't quite understand yet is whether there is any way to have software control over the device - i.e. use the Oric to select which disk images are mounted?

Re: Oricutron macOS 10.14: Unable to open roms

>Have you simply tried to delete statusbar.bmp and replace it with another file? Yes, I've tried everything, including re-cloning. I don't get it either, but haven't had time to debug it further. EDIT: I just tried to build the .app Target in the included Xcode project folder, and got this - which d...

Re: Oricutron macOS 10.14: Unable to open roms

I tried to build it last week and ran into the same issue. I didn't get it resolved - it seems there is some permissions/sandbox issue with regards to being able to read some files, which - for reasons I didn't understand yet - got blacklisted in MacOS recently. EDIT: ~/Documents/Development/retro/o...

Re: You Suffered A Catastrophic Failure, Please Surrender Your Server

Just wanted to say thank you for the effort required to keep this system up and running .. and I for one appreciate the fact that you've got it running on your own personal hardware instead of putting it all out in the cloud. It adds a human element to one of my favourite sites on the internet ... ;)

Awesome! I'm definitely going to unpack Unity for 8-bit and see how to make a game with it ..

Re: CC65 to DSK

Wow this is a terrific game for the Oric .. very nice work! Its not exactly an easy game to play at first, but with a bit of practice (against another human) it actually ends up being quite fun - if but a little frustrating at first. But really, an astonishing title for the Oric, and quite well alon...

What amazes me about this innovation is that it was all do'able in the 80's, too. Just, nobody really seemed to have had the idea to implement as smoothly as iss... Just imagine if we'd had the ability to gang up 4 machines like this, out of the box in 1983 .. I mean, this is some serious alternativ...

Apropos Oricutron builds - I'd be happy to assume package maintainer/release duties for Oricutron on MacOS.

Re: CC65 to DSK

Wow, I love the AIC graphic solution you've come up with .. its brilliant. And .. in a way .. it even looks like gravel is being spit out the back of the car when its on the dirt, or exhaust around the corners or something - and I wonder if you might want to play with that a bit so that its a featur...

Re: OricExos - making the impossible

I second the call to have a special OricExos mode in mainstream Oricutron... this will make it a lot more viable for those of us who want to target OricExos at a later date without having multiple Oric emulators around.

Re: ORIC SDCARD

This is really beautiful. Only thing I wonder is if its going to be possible to somehow mount .DSK images programmatically from the Oric itself, rather than requiring user interaction...

Re: Oric logo and trademark

Not really true. Abandoned trademarks can be re-registered by others after 3 years of demonstrated abandonment. If nobody steps up to defend the re-registration, this is perfectly legal. What this really highlights is we shouldn't assume that someone won't do this to us, if we think our trademarks a...

Re: Telestrat failure?

SCART: oh shit, this may be the issue. I tried using the SCART cable that was in my Atmos, which is the one built by RetroComputing and has been quite reliable in the past. I hope I didn't fry my Telestrat, damnit. (Haven't tried the drive..) But, I will need a few days to return to debugging this, ...
